We had the good fortune of connecting with Payal Tello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Payal, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Things are always working out for me!”

There are so many twists and turns that life has offered me and I wouldn’t be the mother, or person, I am today without each and every single one of them. Even when the world seems dark and I feel abandoned, I know deep down inside that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and that, especially when I feel lost, I am going to end up on the other side even wiser and stronger!

I love this quote because it keeps a positive mindset, even in the times it’s most hardest to have. Those hard times can be so real, and when you’re down sometimes it’s just easier to feel and stay/sink low(er). But this quote reminds me that sometimes you have to fall down in order to get back up. And if you keep remembering you are exactly where you are supposed to be, you will come out even brighter on top of up!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business started out as a passion and hobby, fueled by years of post-secondary education and working as an educator. As a high school teacher, trying to find the best way to support my at-risk students, my research eventually took me back to childhood and infancy. And I learned that if I truly want to make an impact in my community for adolescents, “the work” really needs to start during the prenatal stages. So now my brand focuses on supporting prenatal and postpartum families with an emphasis on bonding with baby.

There are MANY sacrifices I have made to get here today. And honestly, some days I wonder if it is/will be all worth it. There were so many times where people didn’t understand my vision and goals and just wrote me off or brushed me aside. The self-doubt is real sometimes, but everything keeps falling into place for me, making me so excited for the future!

Along the way, I’ve learned that no matter what, stick to what you believe in. Trust the process and know that if you believe hard enough, your dreams WILL come true! (Sometimes it takes longer to get there than you want or expect, but always trust that you’ll get there!)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place to be is Piedmont Park. Whether it’s laying in the sun, taking a dip in the pool, or just going for a walk. There’s always something going on, so we’d definitely be checking out a show, sporting event, or something along those lines. Make a stop at Little Five points in the early evening and East Atlanta in the evening. Centennial Olympic Park and Downtown Atlanta would also be a must!

Shout out to Herban Fix, my most vegan spot in Atlanta. And Gokul Sweets in Decatur who knows exactly how to scratch my Indian food itch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can never make a career move without being thankful for Center For Babywearing Studies. They are the first ones that saw in me what I didn’t even see in myself. I first took their training in October 2015. And it was on my last night in town that Joanna, the founder, took me out to dinner and told me how much she believed I could do with my experience and background.

Over the years our professional and personal friendship has grown. We have managed to stay in touch and are even working on a few projects together this year and moving forward.

I am excited to know that I have someone like Joanna in my corner because, finding a good mentor, isn’t always the easiest thing to do! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us all!
