We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrice J. Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrice J., have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I have two functioning businesses as of now. I’m a private chef and I own a lash extensions business. Plus I’m a entrepreneur mentor and a million other things. Starting out I had no balance, no schedule or routine or guidance. Safe to say I was so stressed and overwhelmed. I never took days off to myself. Being an entrepreneur with no discipline you will burn yourself out. Now a days my life is a set schedule. I have two phones, multiple social media accounts to separate myself from my businesses some days.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company’s name is wavesandchew. My nickname is waves and my social media handles is blurred waves. My business originally started off as a food critic and blogging page. I posted a few pictures of my cooking and people were messaging me inquiring about me catering their events. Honestly this business was my least expected one. But I’m an overachiever, I took courses to further expand my knowledge as a professional chef. Then turned it into a legit business. Lessons I learned along the way was just to do it. Stop overthinking everything and jump into things head first .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to Donovan. He is a business owner and a very hard worker. I’m super proud of him. He literally does what he says he’s going to do. I watch his growth over time and I’m proud of the person he’s becoming in the business world, and as my friend. @caseitbreaks
