We had the good fortune of connecting with Parker Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Parker, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
While my day job is as an owner of wealth management firm which comes with its own trials and tribulations, the main issue I ran into early on was trying to find new people to get to know and better ways to introduce myself to others. With this came the idea of starting a professional development organization like Peachtree Professionals. Just like most young professionals, I was told “go to networking events and tell the story”, which typically looks like you being in a room of 10-30 people with 30 seconds to a minute with the hope you will be remembered. While I not only feel that this is flawed for the average professional it is truly difficult for younger people to separate themselves in a situation like this.

I started Peachtree Professionals with the hope of designing a new avenue for average networking with the hope of not only separating my self from the pack but also giving others a similar opportunity just by participating.

What should our readers know about your business?
Peachtree Professionals is something I started as a passion project in conjunction with my day job which is as an advisor and partner with Focused Financial. I have studied people and money for most of my life and always been fascinated by the intersection between the two. It was more the fascination of the psychology of people that led me to start Peachtree Professionals and the way in which people grow together and form a sense of community has been a large reason for the success of my organization.

Life is a series of trials in which your life is often defined by the ability to overcome and execute despite your circumstances. So no, it is never easy but it isn’t truly meant to be is it? I think the difficult times are the most important moments to take stock of everything around you and I can only truly credit my success to the ability to bounce back from hard times.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have them stay near the battery, giving them easy access to the main city while still giving them that vacation feel that the battery illicits, especially in the summer. While we aren’t hanging around the battery, I am taking them down to piedmont park on the weekend to enjoy a day in the sun, getting lunch at park tavern. Before they leave, we would stop at Nuevo Laredo on the way out of town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have countless people in my life that deserve a “shoutout”. I clearly would like to start with my parents and family who have been pillars in my life during the ugly and the beautiful and I am so eternally grateful for everything they have done and continue to do.

The number one person who deserves more praise than I could ever give her would be my wonderful Wife Olivia Smith. She has been with me from a time where I had close to nothing and had nothing but opportunity and she stuck through everything with me to see me make it to this point and I am so thankful for everything she has ever done for me and can’t wait to see the amazing things we go on to do together.
