We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Beasley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my businesses because I love helping and supporting others. Throughout my life, I always found myself being a support system, physically, emotionally, and financially.
I started my non-profit, Here To Help Foundation, because I wanted to impact people on a larger scale. Prior to forming my non-profit, I used my personal funds to help others. This limited the amount of people I could help. However, I knew grants and donations would allow me to make a bigger impact in my community and in the lives of others.
I also started Beasley Management LLC, a Virtual Executive Assistant Company, because I realized that Small Business Owners lacked the administrative support needed to allow them to focus on growing their business. I knew I had the skills and experience to help fulfill their need. I made the decision to step out on faith and turn my 25 plus years of Executive Assistant experience and my passion for helping into a business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beasley Management LLC is a Virtual Executive Assistant company that provides and matches skilled Virtual Executive Assistants with Entertainment Industry Leaders. We provide Executive Assistance level support.
I am proud of so many things regarding my business, but I am most proud of what I’ve accomplished. I am proud that my first client was the Manager of my favorite music group, and within the last 4 1/2, I’ve provided assistance for many R&B groups. I’m excited that I recently expanded my business to include placement services, matching skilled Virtual Executive Assistants to Entertainment Industry Leaders. I never imagined this would be my life and I’m thankful that God allowed favor to rain upon me.
My journey was not easy, especially in the beginning. My challenge was mostly mental. Shortly after leaving my full-time job, I began having major doubts about my decision. Fear set in. I questioned God about where He was leading me and how He would sustain me financially, because at that time, I didn’t have any clients. I’ll NEVER forget the moment God reassured me that “He got me!” My family was leaving my house after Thanksgiving dinner. I was giving out bags for their “to go” plates. When I gave two of my family members a bag, money fell out of each one. As soon as it happened, God spoke to me and said, “I got you!” Instantly a calm fell over me. From that day on, I’ve been going forward! So no, my journey was not easy, but with God I overcame it and continue to overcome any obstacles that come my way.
I have been taught many lessons along this journey. Belief in myself, my abilities and my business are major lessons I learned. I have to believe that I am capable and equipped with everything needed to be successful: mentally, emotionally, and physically. I have to believe that my business is the solution to someone else’s problem. The main lesson I’ve learned is to stay focused on MY journey. I can’t compare MY journey to anyone else’s. I believe I’m at the place God designed me to be and no matter how hard it gets, I should NEVER GIVE UP!
I would like the world to know that if a woman from a small town in Arkansas, who has been overlooked, undervalued, and underestimated can have her own business and be in a position to work with leaders and stars in the Entertainment Industry, then ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! God can do the unimaginable in the lives of those He has his hands on! I’m a living witness!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Exciting??? This question is difficult to answer because my friends are “chill.” All of us are 50 years old, and our idea of a good time seems different from others. But if my friends were visiting my area, I would make a reservation at a restaurant that none of us has visited. I would also schedule a mani-pedi-massage day at local parlors. If there was a R&B concert in the area during their visit, we would attend it. Our most enjoyable time would be cooking together at my house or ordering food and afterwards sitting and talking about life! My friends and I have alot of encouraging, life-changing conversations and those are moments we value most when we’re together.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing family! They are my biggest supporters! My Father, Mother, 5 Sisters, 7 nephews, and 2 nieces have always pushed and supported me in my businesses. They have constantly showered me with words of encouragement, physical support, and financial support. There were many days when I wanted to quit my journey, but they encouraged me to keep pushing forward because I was making a difference in the lives of others. So I dedicate my shoutout, shout in, and shout all around, to my family!
