We had the good fortune of connecting with pack2sour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi pack2sour, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Sometimes we as human beings fall victim to the “picket fence” lifestyle . I never grew up like that. I have only seen this on television where the parents have a nice home, family, and work life. There is nothing wrong with that at all , some people want to work until they’re 60 years old and then retire. I saw the struggles of poverty up front , my only way out of this mindset of being poor was creativity and entertainment. I would dance, sing, draw, read, write … anything to help me stay occupied. I joined sports after school so I didn’t have to be home. During summer luckily due to my situation the government would pay for me and my siblings to go day camp where I participated in activities like arts and crafts, swimming, talent shows, and amusement parks. I took all of my creativity and struggle and put it into one art WRITING! This then lead to me doing poetry and then eventually Hip Hop music. Pursuing my artistic career lead me to some of the biggest opportunities in my life .

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art is not an easy career especially when it is an opinion based career. Some people can create their whole life and never be discovered. Some people can become overnight celebrities. It took me 12 years to finally make any money from pursuing music. I get excitement out of collaboration, I met my producer here in Atlanta almost 2 years ago and his ability to create inspires some of my most gifted verses. I’ve had to work 9 different jobs since I graduated in 2014. Each job was dedicated to fund my dream. Music videos, studio time, production, merchandise, marketing and promotion could get expensive especially for a Teenager who grew up in poverty. It did not stop me from chiseling at the fact that I can get a lucky break and live comfortable for the rest of my life. I learned that opportunity presents itself along the way and a lot of manifestation and preparation is needed to maintain sharp in an industry full of sharks. The world should know that my talent was built day by day studying the game for the past decade and within the next decade I plan to be one of the most successful music artists in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is a fun place , some of the best food I’ve ever had was here in this city ! I’ve been trying a lot of different food places recently and Roc South Cuisine is definitely a great experience. I love to support black owned business. A big Change of scenery I would take them to little 5 points, I’ve met some of the most talented artists of all types on that side of town. Living in Buckhead is an experience I was lucky to accomplish, the bars and night scene are amazing … expensive though so I would tell my best friend to save some money. Atlantic Station and Ponce City Market would be 2 of my go too places as well considering those locations you can eat, shop, drink and hang. Edgewood is a great strip for nightlife, I’ve met a lot of DJs, producers, and genuine people along the way. Just be ready for the 4pm traffic haha

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Special shoutout to the people who are going through the toughest times. Whether you lost a loved one, your finances are not where you want them to be, you hate your job, or just people simply going through a depressive state. Take time out of your day and focus on what you love instead of what you hate. Breathe, feel, create… whatever it is just know you are alive and blessed and there is someone out there who loves you. There are people out there who would be greatly inspired by your story especially if you never give up on your goals and work as hard as you can to accomplish them. Those type of stories helped me get to where I am today. Just keep going !
