We had the good fortune of connecting with Orlando McGill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Orlando, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always wanted to have a business that I could call my own. I wanted to create financial wealth for the future all while being able to pursue my passion of photography. From being self taught to learning and receiving knowledge from mentors, family and friends has turned my idea into more than just a thought, but into reality
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an individual that captures special moments in time. I don’t just specialize in one style of photography. I want to capture moments people will never forget, whether when an individual is getting through a tough time or an individual’s best day of their life. I’ve learned to love the journey! I can look back and see how far I had come when I started. My creative eye, ability to work well with others, and enthusiasm to improve my craft sets me apart as well as being able to create new relationships and connections with other creators. I am my biggest critic. I have always been hard on myself. I believe there are always ways to better myself, whether a new piece of equipment, learning a better angle to capture a vision or a more efficient way to shoot to create better quality. I want the world to know about me is that I am authentic to myself and my craft. I believe all styles of photography is amazing as well as the creators behind it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Everything is better with food! First, I would go to breakfast at Barneys for some good Chicken and waffles and Soul Rolls. And of course you can’t forget the Mimosas. After a full stomach, you are going to need to relax at the Georgia Aquarium. Seeing life underwater just makes you want to connect more and I don’t know about you, but the sight of water just soothes me.However, if water is not your thing then you can definitely catch me at Six Flags eating food, rollercoaster and mini games to bring home the prizes. Afterward, let’s hit Cam Kirk Studios to check out some dope creators and take a few pics. Lets end the night with some good drinks and vibes. We are going to go to Boogalou or Escobar for a good night of music, drinks, food and great energy.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A special thanks goes to Sheldon Whitfield, owner of Sheldon Whitfield Photography, for providing the guidance, mentorship and the ability to grow into a more versatile photographer.
