We had the good fortune of connecting with Onesimus Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Onesimus, what do you attribute your success to?
The reality of business in the 21st century is that there are several businesses competing for the same clientele. What has caused me to excel over the years is learning to exceed my client’s expectations. Your customer service and product quality are the only two factors that will separate you from the competition. I learned this valuable lesson early in my business and it has served me very well.

What should our readers know about your business?
I was given a unique gift to see potential both creatively and professionally in the most unlikely of situations. During the recession of 2008, I found myself seeking employment after the industry I was in had taken a nose-dive. Oftentimes the gifts within us are not realized until pressure is applied. What started to become glaringly obvious to me was “packaging.” There were a plethora of excellent products that no one knew about because of poor presentation. Companies, churches, individuals and industries were not seeing the ROI that they had hoped for and not really knowing why. This is where my business began. Graphic design was the first vein and as the demand for stronger branding came, I began venturing into photography, videography, editing and then into consulting. I remember taking a college course in “Psychology” and the studies they have found as to the extent that visualization has on the mind. Yes, you want to have an outstanding product but more often than not selection comes because of appearance. The greatest lesson that I’ve learned is to under-promise and over-deliver. Go above and beyond in quality, excellence and customer service. Give people an experience that they will never forget.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I learned from a dear cousin in New York, if someone comes to visit you show them the best time. Let’s start off with food Pappadeaux, Jamaica Mi Krazy, Paschals, Kuroshio Sushi, Copeland’s Sunday Brunch. For activities: Andretti’s, Aquarium, World of Coca Cola, Horse-back Riding, All Fired Up – Pottery, Movies, Laser Tag, Stone Mountain, White Water Theme Park. I could go on and on, there is so much to do here in Atlanta. There are so many neat places to visit. You will never get bored, just make sure you bring some money.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, there’s not just one person or writing to whom I could credit for where I am today. I have always had such a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to be taught. In part, I guess I could thank my mother, Janet Greene, for always making me look up information in the dictionary when I was younger.
