We had the good fortune of connecting with Omar Qassim Kaisi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Omar Qassim, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The more I ask myself this question I shed new layers each and every time. What I thought was my reason yesterday is different today. I guess I can say the path I chose is steeped in my deepest desire to learn more about myself. To discover the true meaning of life-infinite wisdom, both spiritual and cerebral.

My gift back to God is becoming the best version of myself in every way I can-that being in my storytelling in the hopes of becoming a beacon of hope subsequent generations will see.

“That’s your thing” is what my late mother once said to me after my first professional photoshoot for the brand ‘intricate lifestyle’. That coming from my mother meant the world to me because not only did she show her support but gave me her blessing to pursue a creative career.At that point I made it my mission to take a leap of faith and see where my creativity can take me-and now I am a writer, life is so amazing being a creative opens you up to so much of what life has to offer and I guess that is why I chose this path.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a storyteller, I create visual concepts which aim to reflect everything that comes from within-mind body and soul.

What I am most proud of is the faith I constantly rejuvenate in every season of my life. Not only has my faith given me “super powers” making it possible to move mountains from here to there, but has also given me the courage to expand my horizon. Because of such courage I have taken leaps I never thought I would take which have welcomed me to the forays of an unfamiliar world-writing, and publishing my first book ‘A LONG WAY TO GO CANT DIE NOW’ volume1.

Getting to where I am now was not easy, but with the grace God has washed over me I am certain that the grand design of this ‘dream’ I chase is yet to be revealed.

What I have learnt along the way is forgiveness, I forgive my younger self for being naive and expecting an easy route. My biggest message to each and every soul is to forgive themselves and manage their expectations cautiously, it is okay to dream just make sure you pour your heart and soul into everything you hold dear in your life. If Merciful God so desires, you will succeed

What I want the world to know is that each and everyone in this life contributes to a word, a sentence, an image-walk with, help me create this book of life, help me reach my destination, the happiness of one is the joy of all

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The life I live isn’t as extravagant but What i can promise is a soul fulfilling experience- we’d spend the whole week training together (gym), visiting local rural and remote communities getting to learn about the vast cultures that make up the society we live in, telling stories around a fire and simply embracing life! I will top this off with a heavy mountain climb high In the clouds, this experience has helped me raise my consciousness beyond limitation, my body, my mind and soul has been strengthened. Looking at the world from an elevated angle gives me a sense of peace and prepares me for what I am yet to grasp, my late mother always told me “THE WORLD IS YOURS OMAR”.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If there is anyone I would love to give a shoutout to it would be no one else but my angel, late mother Sakhina. This woman stood by me since birth and passed on to me some of her talents God embedded in her. Watching her grow from being an athlete, artist (a musician & fashion model) and transitioning to being a director of an NGO which caters for children has made me who I am today- A boy with a dream.
