We had the good fortune of connecting with Octavia Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Octavia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My Blessed Baby Lifestyle business started in August 2019, when I decided not to go back to work after being on maternity leave. As a mother with two children at the time, I struggled to find a way to balance the demands of work and family. So I knew I had to make a choice: stay home with my children and start a business, or return to work and let someone else care for my youngest child. With the support of my husband, I decided that I wanted to stay home with my child and start a business so that we could build a legacy for our children, and have a sense of independence while raising them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I help Creative Entrepreneurs establish their marketing and visual content in the marketplace.

What sets me apart from others is my self-awareness, hard work, and my ability to listen. I’m driven by the desire to succeed and perform with excellence. I enjoy working with people, and it comes naturally for me to take the time to understand my clients and their goals, then translate this understanding into the kind of service they deserve. This has been an effective format for developing functional communication strategies that grow results.

I am proudest of how far I have come in my business and it is the relationships that I have been forming that excite me most.

I attribute my success in part to family support, hard work, creativity, and discipline, and commitment to helping others create their dream businesses. It was not so easy in the beginning. I started dabbling with different areas of the business, knowing that I had been gifted in many ways. But it was not until I found my niche, Digital Marketing, that I found success.

I overcame challenges by remaining focused on my goals within my business, networking with other like-minded entrepreneurs, and praying for guidance.

Along my journey, I have learned that you must actively listen to people, be compassionate, eager to advance the dreams of those you partner with. Appreciate business and the relationships it creates. Be patient and kind with yourself (self-care). Most importantly, to be patient and not rush things, and to stay motivated.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my husband Shomari. He has given me the motivation to pursue my dreams with him right by my side every step of the way. He has invested in me and believed in me and in my abilities. No matter how many times I failed, he never shook his confidence in me. Thank you for always believing in me and the motivation you provide to power through it all. I also want to thank my family and closest friend for always being there when I needed mentorship. I love and appreciate you all.
