We had the good fortune of connecting with Octavia Conner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Octavia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to start my own business stemmed from a deep-seated desire to make a tangible difference in the entrepreneurial landscape. After dedicating years to the corporate world, I recognized a gap in the market for personalized, cutting-edge financial management support tailored specifically to small businesses. Armed with years of expertise and a burning passion for entrepreneurship, I took the leap, fueled by the belief that I could offer innovative strategies and effective solutions to help businesses thrive.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Say YES to Profits, is more than just a financial consulting firm—it’s a beacon of hope and transformation for small businesses striving to thrive in today’s competitive landscape. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to providing cutting-edge financial management support, innovative strategies, and effective solutions tailored specifically to the needs of our clients.

What I’m most proud of is our track record of helping businesses achieve astounding growth rates, with over 90% of our clients experiencing significant expansion within just 12 months of collaboration. This achievement speaks volumes about the effectiveness of our approach and the dedication of our team.

Getting to where we are today was far from easy. I faced numerous challenges, including financial adversity and the threat of losing everything I had worked for. However, through sheer determination and resilience, I transformed these obstacles into opportunities for growth and learning. I embraced the mindset of “Broke, Busted, & Disgusted – Breakthrough,” and it propelled me forward in ways I never imagined.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and the willingness to take risks. I’ve also learned the power of resilience and the significance of maintaining a positive mindset, even in the face of adversity.

What I want the world to know about Say YES to Profits is that we are more than just a consulting firm—we are agents of change, dedicated to empowering businesses to reach their full potential. Our story is one of triumph over adversity, and it serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and the unwavering belief in one’s vision.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmother, Madea. While she is no longer with us, she was instrumental and shaping the person I am today.
