We had the good fortune of connecting with Nysir Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nysir, how do you think about risk?
I love taking risks. I’ve found that no one really knows what they’re capable of until they try. For me, I’d rather jump and find out what’s waiting for me, than to live forever with the thoughts of “Damn I wonder what would’ve happened if I did xyz….”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think the thing I’m most proud of this far is really is me going after everything I was afraid of once before.

It goes back to my first answer. “Taking Risks”. I used to have so many cool ideas, and things that I wanted to pursue. I didn’t know where to start. It wasn’t until last year where I came to terms with JUMPING. I have a motto now that I go by and it’s really sweet and simple. “F*ck Fear”.

I got to where I am now by just taking bets on myself. Not gonna lie, at times its scary as hell. But you know what else is scary? Being complacent and stuck in the same spot. It’s not an easy process. As I’m getting older I’m learning more and more about myself every day.

A year ago, I was in my hometown writing everything down that I wanted to do. I look at my life now and sometimes have to pinch myself at what I’ve accomplished this far. Fun fact, I used to literally love Ashanti as a kid. No one couldn’t tell me that I wasn’t going to marry her haha, now I’m her stylists’ (Tim B) assistant. Things like that keep me going. I can’t believe how it all came full circle. I think to myself, man if I can manifest Ashanti into my life, anything is possible! Ha!

I want the world to know that I’m out here winging it! I don’t think I’ll ever get to a point where I know it all. When you see me and the things I’ve accomplished just know that I’m human and I have the same exact feelings as you! Nothing is easy. But gratitude and hard work goes a long way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ahhhhh! If my bestfriends wanted to link up for food the first spot I’m taking them to is Carbone. My favorite! Then after that we may slide through Luv Story in Bushwhick for a few drinks!

I honestly think because NYC is so diverse you could be anywhere and meet some exciting people. There’s so many different people with different backgrounds, cultures, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God! God is my everything. He’s my foundation. I make no moves without touching base with Him first.

Along with my family. They’re extremely supportive in all that I do. Beyond grateful to have them in my life.
