We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyota Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nyota, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for Unstoppable Gurlz Inc. I’d gone through a really hard time in my life. I was getting divorced after a 20yr marriage. My mom & older sister were both diagnosed with breast cancer (as I was transitioning out of the relationship) . My daughter was 18 with a baby and needed my help. I had to find out who I was in the midst of all that was going on. One day I really thought about giving up and realized that in spite of everything that was happening. None of it had enough power to stop me! I had kept moving forward without realizing it. Since then I have attended numerous amounts of women’s empowerment conferences to share with women that we all have this power! We are all unstoppable, even when we think we crumbling! So, I created the brand Unstoppable Gurlz. It’s reminder of one of every woman’s God given gifts…we don’t stop.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I may have spoke to some of my his in my first response to the first question. I LOVE helping women see & reach for their highest potential. I love seeing women who were “broken” rising from the ashes and soaring into what they thought they couldn’t accomplish. If I play a small role such as being their sounding board or their cheerleader that means the world to me. We all need someone that will push us to be our absolute best and celebrate us when we get there. It hasn’t always been easy. There have been challenges but I don’t give up…hence the name “UNSTOPPABLE “ Gurlz.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out Jackie Breedan, First Love Outreach Organization in Greensboro, NC
