We had the good fortune of connecting with Nyah Sneed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nyah, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to remember me as a overall good person and woman. I want my legacy to be an inspiration to other young black kids. I want to be an inspiration to other girls who have kinky hair, to kids that were left out, bullied or felt like they didn’t fit in.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started PurposelyNatural when my mother, brother and I were living in and out of hotels but I didn’t let that discouraged me. I just focused on reading and learning all that I could about business…marketing, promoting, LLCs, business credit etc. It was not easy. I thought my business was gonna blow up or go viral on Instagram or TikTok but that’s not what happened. I started my business in December 2019 I didn’t start getting sales till June 2021. What I learned in business is that you have just keep going. Keep learning, keep reaching, try different marketing tactics. I feel the reason my brand sets me apart from other mainstream hair brands is because we are a Ayurvedic hair care brand…we use ingredients like Fenugreek, Cloves, other different natural oils and butters, things like that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Vivian Sneed. My mother has supported me from the beginning, she taught me almost every thing I know about business and being a business woman.
