We had the good fortune of connecting with Noureen Wadhvania and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noureen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My name is Noureen Wadhvania and I am an immigrant and moved from India to America in 2008 not knowing where and what path I wanted to choose. However, there was one thing that I had set in my mind and that was to be an independent female entrepreneur! Cloudy, as to what I was asking for or what all hurdles I would have to face. I followed my passion to America for it being the land of opportunity like I promised myself towards becoming something in life and creating my own identity. There were a few things I promised to my parents while convincing them to let me move and that was to never let them down. So, here the journey begins to the unknown path of building an empire. When I moved to the United States, I had a job opportunity to work in a salon because I had always been into beauty and fashion as a little girl. Little did I know entering in the beauty industry and doing eyebrows would become my passion and identity. I worked for four years in the same industry and went to school and became a licensed master cosmetologist. I enjoyed what I was doing at the time however I thought something was missing. My heart was not being satisfied so one day I sat down and really pieced together what I was missing in my life. After many bumps in the roads and challenges, I finally managed to start my own business and entrepreneur lifestyle. I was so thrilled to become an entrepreneur and do something I always dreamed of. Later on, I opened up two salons at different locations here in Atlanta. Sadly, after having to give up my two locations, I had lost it all. I felt like I had nothing and was basically on the street not knowing where to go. At that point, I realized nothing in life is permanent. So now that is the reason why I say, “everything happens for the best reason.”
I picked myself off the ground and was determined to start all over from scratch. Never give up on yourself because it’s only you who you have for the rest of your life. Life hit me hard after I lost everything I worked so hard for. As I look back now, I thank God for every single thing that had happened the way it did. When life hits you hard there’s only one way after that and that is up. So, I tried to get back on my feet and then rented a small chair for a year at a salon. While working there for a year, I started thinking of ways to do something of my own to prove to myself that I could pick it back up where I lost it all. It’s okay if you lose it all, you can always try and find ways to bounce back. My dream was to always work for myself and build an empire. I am beyond grateful for people I lost as they taught me lessons and equally grateful for the people who stood by me as they are my blessings for life. Many tears were shed during the process of trying to pick myself back up and rebuild my life. However, I always believed you’re not what happened to you, you’re what you chose to become after what happened to you. I was even more determined than ever to get back up and try again.
Fast forward, I opened up another salon in Buckhead, GA on Piedmont Road and signed the lease in 2019. This beauty salon is called BeautyBrows N Beyond and is a skin care salon where we offer services such as body waxing, waxing, facials, eyebrows, face threading, derma-planing, and eyebrow tinting. We use organic skincare for facials called Eminence SkinCare from a Canadian-based company.
However, before we could even open up the new location, the Coronavirus hit in early 2020. The whole world took a break at this time and no offices were open to get licenses, building permits and we had zero clients. Beauty Brows N Beyond was suffering along with a lot of other small businesses in Atlanta. But, I took a big risk and still decided to open up the salon in the middle of the pandemic on June 1st, 2020. Ever since the opening of the new salon last year it has been a success ever since and I’ve never looked back. It’s not just a salon to me, this business was my dream that turned into reality. Every morning I enter this space, I thank God for this blessing because it’s indeed a dream come true for me ever since I envisioned the thought of becoming an entrepreneur. Never did I ever imagine this location would turn out as amazing as it has. Everything feels surreal and I absolutely love what I do as well as all my wonderful clients. This past year, one year after our grand opening of Beauty Brows N Beyond on June 1st, 2021 I launched some of my own beauty products called True By Noureen. I am so beyond grateful and excited to have started this journey and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I knew that I wanted to start something of my own one day because it has always been a big dream of mine to become a female entrepreneur. Today, I am proud to say I am the Founder/Owner of the salon Beauty Brows N Beyond on Piedmont Road here in Atlanta. This salon has been the biggest blessing to me because it is my dream come true. You know the saying, “If you love what you do, you will never have to work a day in your life.” Well, I get to go to work every day doing what I absolutely love doing. I have had the pleasure of working with many celebrity clients such as HouseWives of Atlanta, Tami Roman, Michelle Williams, actress Maria Legarda and many many more. I am so grateful for my amazing clientele who supports me and has followed me everywhere I go. I cherish my loyal customers who started out with me and never stopped believing in me even at the point when I didn’t believe in myself. I thank my clients everyday for them making me who I am and where I am today. So, if you are in the area or in Atlanta please stop by our salon and let us take care of you one day.
In 2019, after opening my own beauty salon Beauty Brows N Beyond one year later I launched my own makeup brand with eyebrow products called True By Noureen. I believe the beauty industry is one of the most booming industries you can get in with multi billion dollar companies growing daily. I am very proud of myself to learn and to be a part of this beauty industry. There’s always something to learn and grow in every single day. What I love about my career is I get to meet so many new wonderful people daily and learn about their beliefs, culture and connect with them on different levels. I’m beyond grateful to have such loyal clients and customers who travel for me, believe in me and our brand. This journey has been such an experience and I wouldn’t go back or change a single thing that has happened because it has got me to where I am standing today. If you’re someone looking to open up your own business, just do it. It may seem very scary, but it’s never too late or ever too early to just start.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A perfect Saturday in Atlanta, GA in my eyes.
So, if my best friend was coming into town I would first start off at a coffee shop. There are so many cute little hidden coffee shops throughout the city. After coffee, take some pictures around ATL and head to get brunch. I love brunch at the Southern Art and Bourbon Bar but that’s one thing about Atlanta they have a lot of great brunch spots to choose from. So, after we had some amazing food we could either go to an Atlanta Braves Baseball game which is always a fun time or take a Pedal Pub ride through the streets downtown. Now that we have had some fun, have a really nice evening sitting out outside of a restaurant chilling and enjoying the rest of the night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My name is Noureen Wadhvania, I am CEO and Founder of Beauty Brows N Beyond and also True By Noureen. I do not take full credit for this title as I have many many things to thank behind this journey. First, my amazing clientele who have been supporting me and following me since starting out. I have so many wonderful opportunities to work with some of the biggest celebrities to do personal services and brows such as one of the Atlanta Housewives and famous Latin actor Maria Legarda.
I am so grateful for the Women’s Empowerment Dinner hosted by Atlanta Immigration Lawyer Pamela Peynado. She has invited me to several of these empowerment dinners and gave me the honor to speak at one dinner with Halani Lobdell and Her 500. These dinners have brought many blessings into my life. It’s so inspiring to be in a group and room surrounded by the most successful and uplifting women from doctors, lawyers, business owners and fitness coaches. All women just come together and lift up one another’s dreams and passions. Also, while attending one of these meetings I met a younger female named Konar Bell who has now started to help my business after I hired her as my social media marketing manager for True By Noureen. The energy Konar carries is so addictive and positive that you never feel you’re working because she makes everything so fun and loving. Very grateful for the amazing women who are in my life, who cheer me on and who help push me to reach my full potential.
