We had the good fortune of connecting with Nirjary Desai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nirjary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Every event or client I collaborate with is special. I want to create a memorable experience for everyone, which brings me back to where I started. KIS(cubed) was founded with the intention of telling stories and ‘keeping it simple’—which is the trademark phrase that inspired KIS. The best thing about my work is that I get to work with so many unique people, and I am extremely grateful to be the one who makes their voices heard. The relationships that I have built with clients and vendors encourage me to grow as well. As a mentor, my experiences working with so many unique individuals have shown me how rewarding it is to make an impact on others, and I hope to continue inspiring young entrepreneurs to discover and pursue their passions.

What should our readers know about your business?
Working in the event industry allows me to apply my individual style in new and collaborative ways, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing my work as part of people’s most memorable experiences. My creative vision serves to communicate and make every voice heard, and I am dedicated to inspiring the next generation. I am fortunate to get to work with some of the most diverse clientele, and each day brings a new challenge or story to share. My work is centered around hospitality and creating a welcoming environment for everyone. As KIS(cubed) continues to grow and reach new audiences around the world, I hope to keep expanding my business as a socially-conscious organization. Everybody has the ability to thrive, so helping create these opportunities by fostering inclusivity within my brand is one thing I try to bring out when working with so many unique individuals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Garden Room is one of my favorite places to explore and unwind. Filled with stunning scenery, this spot is like nowhere else in the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is some of the most influential people in both my life and work. In addition to bringing me so much joy, my husband and newborn son, constantly inspire me with their unconditional love and my husband’s hard work as well. As a woman of color who has struggled to see my culture and experiences reflected in the luxury markets—be it design, weddings or television, my job of bringing these experiences to life for women and people like myself is the most rewarding aspect of my career.
