We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nikki, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly I started my business because I was broke. I pawned my car title, boiled water in the microwave because my heat was turned off and I had exhausted all of my resources. I had an esthetics license from 2013 but had never used it so I asked my friend to rent me tiny space in her suite for $35 and it went from there. God is good

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Vain Bodies was the masterpiece that was created from a lot of broken pieces. Most think that making over 6 figures in a year was my proudest moment but it was not. Being able to purchase my moms headstone in cash was my proudest. My road was not easy but if were any smoother I may not be where I am today. What makes me different when working with clients is that because I had weight problems I can truly understand the self esteem and health issues that come along with it. It allows me to sometimes create a “boutique” style package for some to cater to their needs. What makes me different as a teacher is that I worked on clients 6-7 days a week for 8-12 hours daily so when I teach I do so from experience. This allows me to give real world examples and situations that may occur where as a person that has not worked on many clients may not know of. One of the biggest lessons that I have learned and what I would like the world to know is that when God gives you a vision you don’t need a co-signer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was here for a week we would hit: 1. The Battery (Braves Stadium) 2. Sugar Factory 3. Botanical gardens 4. Stems 5. Ben Hill Grill 6. Scotch Bonnet 7. Ga Aquarium 8. Main Event 9. Centennial Park (4,5 & 6 are local mom and pop diners)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My 2 children were murdered in 2007 and I would like to recognize them. My 7 year old son’s name was Keevin and my 2 year old daughter was named Chasmin.
