We had the good fortune of connecting with Niecy Starks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niecy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Griffin, GA. My background and how I was raised played a major part in who I am today. I lost my mom to breast cancer at the age of 10. My grandmother, her mom, raised my brother and I. Losing my mom at a really young age affected me majorly. It was like I was just wondering through life in a fog. I was also a teenage mom which forced me to grow up faster than I wanted to. I had two daughters that I had to raise. I made a lot of bad decisions that forced me to seek better and I also wanted and needed to make my daughters proud of me. Today I’m proud to say that I’m a grandmother of 1 and a rising female entrepreneur. I worked hard for this and I’m beyond proud of myself for reaching past my limits and not letting my past limit me!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started JusButta LLC in 2021 after recovering from a major car accident. It’s was in my healing process that I discovered I couldn’t take prescription medications due to them making me very sick. My grandmother was a old school Southern lady that relied on natural remedies over medication. I learned a lot from grandmother. I used the same natural remedies to help me heal and decided to turn it into a business. I’m excited that the world gets to experience the remedies my grandmother shared with me. Getting started was hard because I wasn’t sure if I would get support but now with the world relying on natural remedies, starting my business was the perfect thing to do. Like life running a business is trial and error. You learn and grown from your mistakes. Listening to feedback from customers is also very important to your business growth because they are the ones you are catering to. The biggest lesson I have learned is that you have to have patience and trust the process. Nothing happens overnight. You have to keep learning new things and never stop believing that you can achieve anything that you put your mind to! At JusButta LLC you get good old fashioned customer service, patience and love. These are the ingredients that are making me successful!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend comes to visit the main thing we want to do is eat good food LOL! We like to eat at Mom and Pop places where we know the food is going to be great! We eat at places like Busy Bees, Big Daddy’s, JJs Fish and Chicken, Scotch Bonnet and American Sandwich. We also love the Rooftop at Ponce, New Orleans Daiquari Bar, The Brownstone, Whisky Mattress and Slutty Vegan! We are more down to earth and laid back women so Piedmont Park or Grant Park is where we would be enjoying the sun and laughter!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My spiritual faith plays a major part. It took a lot of praying, walking out on faith and trusting GOD to get me to where I am now, my 2 daughters and grandson because they motivate and encourage me. My brother for helping me with daughters. My grandmother for taking me in and raising me. My tribe of friends that are always pushing me to greatness. My customers for supporting me. The nurses at Grady Memorial ICU that took care of me and spoke life into me. These are my reasons to keep going! Also the book Laws of Attraction and various self help and motivational books that I read to stay grounded and focused.
