We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole M Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole M, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Well, my work and life balance philosophy has definitely changed over time. I used to be so focused on overachieving everything and trying to please everyone that I nearly burned myself out. After that I switched to a ‘this is what I want to do and no matter the sacrifice, I’m going to do it.’ This way of thinking helped me achieve so many of my dreams despite some people telling me that what I wanted was impossible. Now I’m not going to lie, at one point when I was working like 3-4 jobs, I felt like I had made a huge mistake. But I learned how to balance and trust in God to deliver me to the vision He had given me. Within the past few years I’ve had another shift in how I balance work and life. You see, for the first time, I lost people that I loved so much that I will never be over them. And family became just as important as my career. God has blessed me with and extremely supportive family, and in growing I’m learning to better understand what is worth sacrificing for. Now I see developing my relationship with God, achieving my dreams, and spending time with family and friends as equally important. It’s a difficult balance, and it requires a lot of organization, but it’s my life, and I love it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m really excited about the projects I have gotten to work on this year. I have 3 movies coming out on multiple platforms like Prime, Tubi, Fandango, Hoopla and Vudu. Two are currently out, “Redemption for Easter” and “My Brother’s Keeper”, and the film coming out later this year is called, “A Very Merry New Year”. It’s just so amazing that I have these opportunities to share my passion with the world, and hopefully the world enjoys it. It took a while to get here, and trust me, the amount of rejection that comes with being an actor is brutal. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for my faith in God and the phenomenal Support Team that always has my back. I’ve learned so much, but one thing I was taught was to always be proud of what I do, and that whatever you do to get to the top, is what you will have to keep doing to stay up there. One of the things I love about acting is how it inspires empathy in people. How it shows you that the world isn’t just black and white, but full of so many different colors. My hope is that I can be a tool to help people see the other side and inspire understanding and love. This world needs a lot more love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was visiting Atlanta, there would be three main things on our itinerary. Eating all the foods, because when you’re on vacations the calories don’t count. Especially not a Wetzel Pretzel. Visiting museums like Martin Luther King Jr. National Park, the Children’t Museums, Hight Museum of Art, etc. And the Pièce De Résistance would be to catch a show at the Fox Theatre. I love the Arabian theme and the starry night of the ceiling.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Okay, I think we all know how this phrase goes. First off, giving glory and honor to God who is the head of my life. I truly want to thank You for not only giving me these amazing dreams, but also giving me the talent and stubbornness to go after them. Next I want to thank, from the very bottom of my heart my Support Team. Some of my team have passed on, but I feel your love with me everyday. I will never forget how all of you had the same last words that you were proud of me. I’m going to keep making you proud. My parents are beyond amazing in everything they sacrifice for me, and I pray that one day I can give you all the things you deserve. I truly have an amazing family, and this includes my friends who are family. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
