We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicky Sunshine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicky, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I had a child in 2021 so my focus has been on him for a year and a half even though I still had to work. There is no balance- sometimes you have to give more time and energy to one thing over the other. It’s never 50/50

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I wrote a one woman show called “Confessions of a massage parlor Madam” it is my true story of how I overcame a life in the underground of NYC massage life. It’s been hard sustaining myself as a comic. I credit my spirituality for helping me thru the dark times. Turn a negative into a positive. Never quit believing in your hopes and dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
NYC is the best place in the world. We have some of the best live shows- a Broadway play or concert is a must. I’d take her to Ricardo Steakhouse in East Harlem, Lighthouse Fishmarket, we’d go on 125th to support local vendors and to downtown Brooklyn to see the beautiful broenstones

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Jamie Roberts deserves a huge shoutout, he’s one of the hardest working people I know, He gets up early and works late nights. Not only does he manage, promote, and book “Comedy In Harlem” he also founded and operates our radio station www.108soul.com, he is a comedian, a host, a father of 3, full time caretaker for his Mom who has dementia, and a leader in the Masonic order. My “Puerto Rican” Uncle Julio believed in me and pushed me when I didn’t believe. He has always been there to listen, advise, and encourage me professionally and spiritually.
