We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Burningup Blaze and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nick, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Some of the habits that helped me succeed were traveling to different states showcasing my music on a consistent basis. Atlanta, GA is a big part of my career. Traveling to Atlanta weekend to weekend over the years definitely impacted the success I’m having now. Being open to criticism has helped me succeed. Being personable and having a positive attitude has opened a lot of doors for me. Marketing my music more on social media, such as Instagram has helped me succeed because I started reaching a bigger audience that couldn’t see me in person.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I became the artist I am today by taking a leap of faith to go make things happen. Most of the opportunities that were giving to me I try not miss them. I wanted to achieve all my dreams and goals with music but I knew I had to make some sacrifices along the way. There were numerous nights when I didn’t sleep because I was working on music. There were a lot of long drives that I had to take hours away from home to go get my music heard. I lost friends due to perusing music because it was something that they didn’t want to do. Music was always in my heart. I knew it was the path I wanted to take through good and bad situations. There were times where I couldn’t get things done because I didn’t have the budget to do it. Early in my music career it was hard trying to get music videos, photos, and marketing done because nobody wanted to work with me not having the budget they needed. The talent has always been there so I decided to invest in myself. I learned to do different things such as videos, photography, and business management. As time went by I got better doing those things which helped me brand my music. Nick Burningup Blaze is a Hip Hop artist but also a business major due to cross training in different categories of entertainment. Nick Burningup Blaze is a public figure who stands on traditional beliefs. One of those beliefs are helping people not only with music, but in everyday life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anytime I travel to Atlanta I like to stay in the midtown area. Atlanta has been a stomping ground for my music so I like to travel all over as much as I can. One of my favorite places to go eat at is the Varsity that has great hotdogs and hamburgers. I like to go to the Free Smoke vape shop in Norcross Ga because every time I shop there they always give me love and support. I like the Georgia Aquarium where I can get to experience real life sea animals anytime I’m not doing music. Far as night life some great places to go have fun are Magic City and King of Diamonds.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I want to give a shoutout the man above for giving me this opportunity to showcase my talent to world. Without him none of this would be possible. I want to give a shoutout to all my day one homies that stuck with me on this journey even though I know some of them couldn’t be at every event. I want to thank them for still believing in the process and always encouraging me to go get it. I want to give a shoutout to the distance friends and family who still rock with my music from the very beginning. I want to give a shoutout to my mother, grandmother and my son. These three are the ones who helped me become the man I am today. I want to give my hometown Spartanburg, SC a shoutout because that is where all my music started. I want to give a shoutout to the ones that doubted me because they motivated me to keep going. I wanted to show them all things are possible. I want to give a shoutout to my booking agent (Brittany F.) for taking on the duties to help promote my music. I would not be here if it wasn’t for her. I also want to give everyone that I’ve worked with over the years in Atlanta, Ga a shoutout. All the opportunities performing, networking, and interviews helped me become a professional in the music industry. I learned a lot about the business side of the music in Atlanta, Ga and I’m truly blessed to say that.
