We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Dinero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NIA, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a creative thinker—honestly, I’m even left-handed, so that probably says something! I’ve never been one to follow the traditional path; I love finding new ways to solve problems and thinking outside the box. People often think creativity is just about making art, but it’s so much more—it’s the way we naturally process things and see the world. My love for the arts gave me a space to explore that creativity and pushed me to take risks, be original, and not shy away from doing things my own way. That sense of freedom and possibility is what wakes me up every morning, excited for what’s next!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my journey as a radio personality at my alma mater, Norfolk State University, and that’s where the foundation of my passion for connecting with people and sharing stories began. I’m really excited to drop my new single ‘Side 2,’ featuring Jerry Legend. As a songwriter, I’m super proud of this track. With everything that’s going on in the world right now, I feel like love is what we need most. This song is all about that—the power of love and connection. It’s a reminder that no matter the challenges, love can get us through. I really hope this record brings some positivity and warmth to those who hear it, because we could all use a little more love in our lives right now. It’s been a long road, but every setback has made me appreciate the wins even more. Big dreams take time, and sometimes that means a lot of trial and error before you get it right.

What sets me apart is that my brand has always been about faith, hard work, and staying true to myself. I’ve never been one to take shortcuts, and I’ve always prioritized my integrity, peace of mind, and respect—for myself and others. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but those challenges have taught me so much. One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to compromise who you are to succeed. You can still make it while staying original, and that’s something I want the world to know about me and my story.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting, there’s a lot we’d do in a week! We’d definitely check out Georgetown for some shopping and wander around the stores and shops. We’d also hit up the National Mall in DC, grab lunch at Founding Farmers or Busboys and Poets, and maybe even check out a museum or two. For something fun and a bit different, we’d do an escape room at the Harbor, then head to The Wharf for drinks and good vibes. And of course, if you know me, we’d definitely get in a great workout too—whether it’s a run along the waterfront or hitting the gym, we’re getting it in!

We’d also make sure to take a chill rest day—just hang out, grab some comfort food, and maybe see a movie or catch up. And of course, we’d head to Virginia Beach to see where it all started for me, grab fresh seafood, and check out a few studios. There’s a lot of good food, good vibes, and great people to meet along the way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, all glory goes to GOD. Then, a huge shoutout to my family and friends who have always had my back, encouraging me to keep going and never quit.
