We had the good fortune of connecting with Ngohile Yakubu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ngohile, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had an idea that needed to be shared with the world. Something that comes natural for me and a skill most don’t have so I decided to take the leap and do it

What should our readers know about your business?
I own an online Resale shop that Curates vintage & preloved modern quality clothing for everyone who wants to define their personal style and shop sustainably. There are a lot of stores and fashion lines out there but for me, I didn’t just want to launch a clothing brand, I was seeking to start with what we already have and redefine what it means to have personal style. I personally have thrifted my best clothing items and I find nothing wrong with doing it. In fact, that’s where you score unique gems. And having learned what fast fashion is doing to the environment, I take pride in having a business that is helping reduce waste too. I started small, with what I had and slowly building and educating and gaining brand awareness through social media as well. If I’m being honest, starting is always the challenge for any business, but once you do, you’re one step ahead and then you learn and grow forward. I’ve definitely learned that running a business isn’t easy, there are so many ins and outs of any successful business. So don’t get discouraged when things don’t kick right off like you expect. I know it’s hard to keep going when today’s society is always about clapping and noises. Remember that you can also be your cheerleader. Don’t forget to celebrate every little milestone along the way. I am proud that I did launch this brand scared and vulnerable but that doesn’t mean I am any less. I love what we stand for here

I want the world to know that, we are all unique in every way possible so be willing to show up as you regardless of if you don’t fit in. That’s why you exist. Channel your inner self out loud through your everyday look and if you need help with that, contact me personally and I’ll curate your style for you 😊

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot in the city would be Central west end. We have endless restaurants here and local events happening all the time. Be sure to check out union station, Forest park and tower grove by south grand as well

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank God first of all for planting the idea in me. Secondly, my family and great friendships that have shaped my life experiences in many ways and lastly I want to shout out my younger self, for hanging in there and growing into this courageous woman
