Hi Netanjea “Nikki”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started Just Bead It 627, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a creative business—I wanted it to reflect my time, talent, and faith. Honestly, when God put it on my heart to start a waist bead company, I was hesitant at first. But He reminded me that while plenty of people in this industry have talent, He gave me something special—prayer.

I had been searching for a way to truly connect with others through my purpose, and God showed me that this was it. Now, every time a customer comes to me, I ask them what they’re seeking, and I pray over their beads. Over time, I’ve also grown to incorporate bracelets & more into my store for both men and women, giving even more people a way to carry something meaningful with them.

This business isn’t just about making something beautiful—it’s about creating something with purpose. And honestly, it’s my conversations with the Lord that have led me exactly where I’m meant to be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Working in higher education has always been my passion. There’s just something about connecting with students, hearing their stories, and pouring positivity into their lives to help them keep pushing toward excellence. It’s so rewarding!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am still pretty low key, but when I do get out for a cocktail with vibes- I am sure they have an amazing time. I have some great gems within my Yelp bookmarks that I have taken advantage of. I can’t give out all my secrets 🤐

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I just want to take a moment to thank God for blessing me with the ability to share my talents and touch the lives of others. I’m beyond grateful for my family and friends who have been my constant support system. And most importantly, to everyone who’s part of the Just Bead It 627 Family—thank you for seeing the value not just in my products, but in what they truly stand for. Because let’s be real, everyone could use a little bit of prayer!
