We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Leonard III and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathan, how do you think about risk?
Risk is a word that many of us entrepreneurs are intimidated by. Risk has played a great factor in my career considering I practically started my company from the bottom. It took a risk to wake up one day and decide to start a mobile detailing business when I honestly knew nothing about washing cars. I have a degree in audio engineering and a love for producing beats; therefore, mobile detailing was the total opposite of my comfort zone. After doing research and practicing, I proceeded to spend the majority of my money on this business that I dreamt of starting. I proceeded to invest in supplies for my company until I could not anymore. I launched my business officially in September of 2021 and my first customers were friends and family. I took the risk of potentially not gaining clients and continued to invest in my business. There was just a great amount of uncertainty that came with starting my company. It took everything in me to deny the doubtful thoughts that popped into my head Without risk, I would not be where I am today. As my business continues to grow, I am grateful for the factors that risk has played in my life.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I recently founded Herc’s Mobile Detailing at the age of twenty two. Herc’s Mobile Detailing services the Metro Atlanta Area and I drive to all of my customers. My business is fully mobile and I operate fully mobile out of my truck. My services include basic washes, full interior/exterior details, waxing, clay bar, and all of your other needs. Quality, efficiency, and affordability sets my business apart from others. I make the effort to complete every detail to the best of my ability no matter the condition of the vehicle. Starting my business was relatively easy, however, it was challenging to master the proper techniques in order to operate efficiently. Also, building clientele was a struggle but that just comes with patience and being willing to wait for my business to fully take off. I learned that every entrepreneur has to take risks in order to build their dream company. Everything beneficial does not happen over night, and behind ever great entrepreneur is great patience.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would recommend riding the bird scooters the Atlanta Beltline and then going to the Starlight Drive-In Movie Theater. The Beltline is a long strip that has lots of food places and activities. The Drive-In movie theater is a great experience as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My girlfriend Dominique (owner of @sweetniqueproducts) deserves lots of credit and the utmost respect. Without her, I would not be the person that I am today and my business would not be nearly as successful as it is. She pushes me to be great, and encourages me throughout the process of being a new business owner. She entertains every idea that I have regarding the expansion of my business, and motivates me in every single way. I was a completely different person before Dominique came into my life and I thank God for her. When I told her that I wanted to start a mobile detailing company, the first things that she did was proceed to making business cards, designing a logo, creating the social media, and much more. She is truly a go-getter and behind every great man is a great woman. She keeps me focused, in good spirits, and uplifts me. She has been supportive in every single aspect and is my ride or die.
