We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathalie Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathalie, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I always talk about the definition of success in my social media videos. I think people have a habit of defining success in the eyes of others and not in the actuality of themselves. We all have different measures of success and happiness. I firmly believe in finding what success means to you personally. What success looks like to me doesn’t necessarily have to be what success looks like to you. What is my definition of success? Success has many layers to me. I look at success in different measurements of my life. My definition of success starts with my happiness, growth, and satisfaction with myself. What I mean by that is my personal development and growth. That, to me, is key in my success, reaching a level within myself that I feel complete and happy with the women I am eternal.

Next would be the impact I made on my family. Leaving tools and all the resources they need to carry on the name and have successful lives is very important to me, and fulfilling that will be a big part of my success.
The last part of the definition of success would be the growth of my business. I want to be the top Content and Branding Company in my industry, and reaching that level, getting that recognition is a marker of success for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business started in 2017. I was completing my degree in Human Resources. I wanted to help companies to add the element of HR systems into their business, so I created The Business Doctor. It didn’t jump off like I thought it would instantly for the first three months, not one client. People weren’t interested in HR or adding it to their business. I’m naturally creative. During that time, I created my website, designed and built my ads, and directed my photoshoots for my brand. Someone asked me to do the same for them, and it was like I loved it at first sight. This was my natural niche. I am unique in HR, but branding, content, styling, and designing were who I was. I ended up changing my brand and focusing more on those elements, when the business began. I have had the opportunity to work with and develop so many brands that words can measure my gratefulness. But let us be clear this was not and still is not an easy journey. Being a business owner is hard. I always say you only “eat what you kill,” meaning. You have to get out here and work hard, and I mean hard for yourself. If you don’t, you won’t succeed. People think being an entrepreneur means sleeping in late and living this easy-breezy carefree life. Uggg, I’m sure all my entrepreneurs wish. It is early mornings, late nights, missed time with your family, its sacrifice. And I wouldn’t trade any of it in for the world.

The biggest lesson I have learned in my journey is resilience. Having tough skin is needed in this world. You have to be clear on what success is and be firm in achieving that. I also learned that you have to learn how to play the game. I have at times done jobs for free to have a chance to show my genius, and those jobs, in return, created opportunities for me. We all need money to survive but know the difference between what’s helpful for a minute or useful for life. It only sometimes takes one person to see you, and the next thing you know, your life can change. Being mindful of connections and influences is a lesson I have learned along the way.

In a nutshell, life is what you make it, whether you are working in your career or running a business. Every moment is based on your own choices and decisions. You can create the life you want and fulfill your purpose if you take the time to know what that is. Stay firm in the things you believe in and what you want, and in return, you will create your personal legend.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in Philadelphia change with my vibes. Right now my favorite spot is Spice 28. They have an amazing drinks you would love them all and the food is awesome. If you go ask for Jasper and tell him I sent you he will take excellent care of you.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person who has been very influential in my success is my sister, Christina Williams. I owe this to her because she is the true definition of what not giving up and going hard for yourself looks like. I watched her work so hard for everything she wanted and had. From getting a full academic scholarship to a top HBCU school, consistent internships and programs to make her desirable in her industry, to now approaching graduation with an acceptance in Harvard Law School. This was all on her hard work, sacrifice, and belief in herself. I have had to take the role as her parent due to families circumstances, and she didn’t let that hinder her; she blossomed from it. I am proud and honored to have her as a constant reminder to keep going and go hard as I can and even harder for what I want. So many people have touched me to give me guidance and direction in my business and success, but she is the main factor I constantly push myself for more and more. My inspiration will always be Christina Williams.
