We had the good fortune of connecting with Nate The Great and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nate, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Life can’t hold you down if you’re living happy. What it means to me is through all the obstacles and tribulations you face in your life, you have that one outlet and that circle of people that you hold dear is what keeps you going strong and remain positive. As long as you keep a genuine set of close ones around you and you have a passion that you crave and love so deeply, your optimism will build your determination and grit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never gave up. I stayed focused and keep going with the mission I implanted within my mind. Work and progress. Even when no one is watching. I’ve been a musical artist since 2014. To describe my sound, it would have to be versatile. However mainly I lean more to that old school, Golden Era, 90’s jazzy Boombap sound when it come to my music. The process wasn’t a cakewalk. In the beginning I was still finding my style and also getting use to putting myself out in front of people. Mainly because I was an extremely timid person growing up and the more I kept performing and networking, the more I got used to being in front of an audience. The one thing I’m most proud of about this road I’m on is the people I’ve encountered in on this path. I met my influences, my group, my love and the supporters that I have garnered. Definitely the people I met along the way. Biggest lesson I learned is don’t ever stop what you’re doing and don’t change yourself to amuse the crowd. What I want everybody to know about me and my story is that I’m a passionate, motivated lyrical underdog from a small town in Queens who wants to impact many people with the words I’m expressing in his music and give back to both my loved ones, myself and my community to help improve it. Without music, I have nothing. It’s my heartbeat.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Rockaway Beach Boardwalk. Man, whenever the summertime hits it’s a beauty. Also a few good spots in the city. I usually hang out in the art galleries in Chelsea if you’re into the arts. Dave and Buster’s over by Times Square is also a great hang out spot. 99 Flavors Taste located in Chinatown! A great food spot, that’s also where me and my girlfriend went on our first date so I highly recommend it. Food is stellar and fantastic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would to take a second to shout out my hometown of Far Rockaway, Queens. I also want to shout out my brothers and sisters in the collective I am apart of, Duh GOATS Inc. Shout out to my girlfriend, I love you. Shout out to my family. But most importantly, shout out to myself for making it this far in my journey.
