We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalian Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalian, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
For me, I’ve had moments where I have wanted to give up, but every time I think about giving up, I remember how many people I’ve helped along the way. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Giving back, sharing my testimony of how I’ve overcame so many obstacles in life let’s me know just how I blessed I am simply because I never gave up. I knew that I could be different, it just took time for me to see myself the way God sees me. And I want others to do the same.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Professionally, I work for Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL. I love my Job and I love what I do. But after that, my passion is helping others. I want other young women to realize they can be different. They don’t have to be a statistic. I started my Nonprofit, “What Now Organization” because after salvation, I asked myself, “what now?”. I knew it was more than just going to church, listening to worship music, and praying. I came to realize a huge part of salvation is learning to serve. I think that’s why it comes so natural for me, because that’s what we are supposed to do. Many times people often have their hand out looking for something, but change that. Lend your hand to others, that’s the true blessing and that’s what makes me happy. Knowing I helped someone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I like to eat. I have 3 favorite foods. Tacos, French fries, and hot wings! There’s a spot in Birmingham called Eugene’s Hot Chicken, they have some of the best chicken and fried okra I’ve ever tasted. I would also take them to my favorite taco spot, EL Zun Zun. You can’t go wrong with tacos. As for me, I love being outside and I’m pretty adventurous, I would take my friend hiking. Nature is just so beautiful and peaceful to me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my Mom. She has always been my biggest supporter. It’s because of her prayers and never giving up on me that I’m in the place I’m in now. So many other people have helped me along the way, but we’d be here all day if I mentioned everyone! Lol
