We had the good fortune of connecting with Nas Cartier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nas, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Music! Listening and creating music brings me a sense of peace. I can start out writing in a bad mood but once I let it all out in the song, I always end up happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For starters I am the Prince of Rap. Rapping is an outlet for me to release any stress I may be under. As I stated I’m heavily influenced by Nicki Minaj so you can only imagine the type of flows, bars, and versatility I’m coming with. Aside from that I feel like I haven’t heard or came across any other artist that sounds like me. It’s a lot of artists I feel mimic one another, but the way I’m coming is different and I feel like I will shock a lot of people. So far in my career I am most proud that I’m still going, it gets hard & stressful at times and I’m sure my peers can understand that. My upcoming album makes me really excited! I can’t wait to share it with everybody. I’ve always been a very determined person, I know my goals, and I will not stop until I reach them all. Was it easy getting here? Nothing is as easy as it seems. I feel like I finally found my coping mechanism to helping me overcoming situations in my life, and that’s writing about it. Once I put the words on the paper (or in my phone) I feel a sense of relief and barely think about it again. I’ve learned that you have to believe in yourself and build your OWN relationship with God to get where you want to be. There have been times where I have had absolutely no idea as to what I was going to do yet when it came time God was right there helping me figure it out. There have even been times where I thought there was NO way, and in the nick of time, God made the way. I want everyone to know that the Prince of Rap is here. For the longest run. This is only the beginning, I have so many plans I’m going to achieve throughout my career, and I cannot wait for things I pray about right now, to be right in front of me in a couple years.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m getting all of my ideas from TikTok!! One day we’d have to go to Love Just Brunch for some of the best brunch around the city, or even The Select Restaurant, they have a really good selection of food as well. Hitting Bar 44 for a couple of drinks, Vision Restaurant & Lounge, and Batsi is a really fun place to eat, drink, or kick it. I’m a pretty laid-back type of person, I may come of kind of quiet, and shy to some people but that’s the Sagittarius in me jumping out when I first meet people. Once you break that wall down, you’ll get a whole nother goofy side of me. I love people that can understand my humor and have a similar one. I come across a lot of sensitive and stupid people, it makes me want to stay to myself and lock myself in with my 4 friends. I love amusement parks even though I DO NOT ride the rides. I like to just walk around with funnel cake and a lemonade, looking pretty, and I’m not even joking. So, we’d definitely have to go to six flags one day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, as I actually sit here and complete this interview my idol and main the influence on my career is playing, Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj. She actually just announced her fifth studio album “Pink Friday 2” will be releasing soon, around the same time I release my first album so that makes me 10x more excited. She’s amazing, like incredible as what she does. I grew up on her, I feel like I grew up WITH her. I can’t wait to meet her and actually be able to tell her how much she has helped and influenced my career. I mean its Nicki Minaj, her flow, bars, versatility, LONGEVITY, is all unmatched. I know i’m destined to be just like her.
