We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomi Glay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naomi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m a serial entrepreneur. Each of my businesses started from a different part of my story. PowerTalk 💜🎙 began with skills I used growing up, creating experiences, creating safe spaces in my basement. It was never about business. It was about meaning. The first topic? The modeling industry. Today, it’s a platform for healing and real conversations.

CloseLook started as a tribute to African culture after my mother passed it was a tribute to the things she instilled in me. Every bag carries a piece of her.

And real estate? That came from watching my immigrant parents navigate their first home with no guidance. After eight years as a leasing agent, I knew I wanted to be the kind of Realtor who educated my clients and protected them every step of the way.

None of this was about money,it was about purpose. And that’s what still drives me.

What should our readers know about your business?
Everything I’ve built—PowerTalk 💜🎙, CloseLook, and my real estate career—was born from lived experience. I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be an entrepreneur. I became one out of necessity, purpose, and sometimes pain.

PowerTalk was never about “hosting panels.” It was about creating a safe space I needed but didn’t see—a place where real conversations about grief, healing, shame, and survival could happen. CloseLook began as a soft launch in honor of my mom. It grew into a brand built on beauty, strength, and legacy. My real estate journey started after watching my immigrant parents struggle to buy their first home. I never wanted another family to feel confused or overlooked in the process.

None of this was easy. I’ve had seasons where I was grieving privately while leading publicly. I’ve invested without guarantees and walked away from security to pursue my calling.

What sets me apart is that I don’t build for profit—I build for impact. Every brand I touch has a heartbeat, a story, and a community behind it. I’m proud that people feel seen through my work. If you walk away feeling more honest, more healed, or more empowered—that’s the win.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m such an Afrobeats and Mediterranean vibes girl. If I want suya, I’m going to Redroom. For good energy and flavor, it’s Mandolin Kitchen or Rumi’s Kitchen.

And of course, I’d show them my world: one of my listings, a PowerTalk reel or two, and maybe even a sneak peek at CloseLook bags in production.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout goes to my mother. Her strength, her style, and her softness live in everything I build.

I also want to thank my close circle—the ones who remind me to rest, speak life into my dreams, and hold space for me when I need it most.

And to every person who shows up for PowerTalk year after year, thank you. You remind me that we can grow through what we go through—and that healing is possible when we do it together.
