We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomi Dennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naomi, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
When I named my business after myself, I didn’t know it would force me to learn so much about myself. The great thing about small businesses is the ability to connect with the owner. I had to find who I am for myself so that it could shine through my business. I want people to be able to connect to my most authentic self. I hold many roles like mom, veteran, business owner, sister, and many others. Still, I really had to understand what was left after all of the roles, achievements, and things are stripped away. I am an introvert, and I am fiercely private. Still, I am learning a lot about balance and boundaries as I share and grow with others. It is so important to recognize your own voice so you can hear it above the noise.

What should our readers know about your business?
Before I left the military, I had a desire to serve business owners. Bookkeeping is the perfect combination of my passion, strengths, and abilities. I get to work side by side with business owners to help them grow their businesses and provide that same personal touch that they provide their customers. I help business owners stay on top of expenses, revenue, profits, and cash flow. I get to relieve the stress of managing finances way before tax season. My clients know that I have their backs. They get to go be great.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a true home body and an introvert. There are a few places in the city that I enjoy, most of them are food related. I have a special relationship with coffee. I had the pleasure to visit Urban Grind Coffee House. It was something special about this place. I also, had the best oatmeal cookie I ever had in my life and it was vegan. My friends had a birthday celebration at the resturant APT 4B. The food was amazing and the DJ (yes the DJ) was on point. The Ponce City market is like a cool adult savanger hunt. So many little places to discover. There is Juice Champs opening soon next to Kennesaw State, once you try this juice you’ll never be the same. Vegan or not, everyone needs a little Slutty vegan. Life Bistro and Grass VBQ Joint are great places to get meat free deliciousness.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom, dad, grandmother, a super small group of military family, and my siblings are responsible for everything I am. My grandmother is one of my best friends. She has always supported and encouraged me. She has flown all over the U.S. to be with me. In the military, everyone is away from their family, and you gain new family members along the way. Denise has been with me through some of my lowest moments. We have been friends since 2008 when we met in Iraq. In 2014, met Meghan, Desiree, and Monique in a shower trailer outside of a gym after morning physical training. These women have impacted me over the past years, and I am better because of them. I am the oldest of my siblings. I have tried to live my life as an example for them. I want them to know that they can do anything. Every day I go a little further into the unknown, so they know it is possible. I have made many mistakes and share so many lessons. My dad died when I was younger, and my mom passed away last year. I work hard to make them proud and to honor their sacrifices.
