We had the good fortune of connecting with Nanda Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We saw the needs of the hungry and homeless and prayed for a strategy to help. We know that we cannot help everyone but we have to do our part! Treating people like they matter does not require anything but a heart of compassion. We simply started by desiring to help those who need help the most and everything else fell in line.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Running a nonprofit organization is not easy. We have many challenges, funding this mission is the biggest problem. You see, people do not consistently give so we cannot budget. We know what it takes and costs to fill 60 bags of groceries to distribute. We understand the sacrifice and labor of love. But many who see what we do don’t understand the cost. It may appear easy but it is expensive. We are grateful for being graced to do this work!

People may think we crazy but our ministry is on that runs on faith! We can testify that prayer really does work!

The main lesson we’ve learned is that we can do nothing without the Lord Jesus Christ. He supplies every need. He gives us strength and a heart to help. He is our true source. He touches the hearts of others to help us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Mobile Alabama is a beautiful city! Downtown is becoming the more popular area. Good food is everywhere! Many eateries are downtown and there are some very nice restaurants that line the causeway.

Beaches here are beautiful. Dauphin Island will not disappoint. We have museums, art, and much more!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to the board members of Helping Hands Ministry and Emergency Food Pantry. They work hard and without pay! They are like Aaron and Hur was to Moses. They hold up my arms helping me fulfill the call of God to the community. They are so creative, they give their time, talents, and finances to help others. These ladies are none other than Tomeka Montgomery and Ingrid Longmire. True servants of the Lord who have a great love for God and people.
