We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Waldeck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
People are busy and often don’t have time to take good care of themselves and their families as well as they would like.. They want to eat well, enjoy wine and have wonderful experiences on their time off, but its not easy in today’s fast paced world. Taste and Savor helps with easy, delicious and healthy recipes, uncomplicated wine education and trips that are one of a kind experiences. I believe in celebrating life each day, whether in the kitchen, at the table or on the road. I share my enthusiasm, expertise and network of friends across the world to help others Taste and Savor LIFE!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The study of food, wine, culture and people is my creative endeavor. Translating food, wine and travel is my art. I love making complicated recipes easy, unraveling the fascinating stories of wines and un-complicating travel to turn into amazing experiences.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First stop, Buford Highway Farmer’s Market. Its the best place in Atlanta to experience our multi-cultural city. We’d send several hours there walking the aisles and checking out food from around the world. We’d grab groceries and come home to make a fabulous, yummy and simple dinner, starting with a huge salad with homemade dressing, a whole fish on the grill, and end with some fresh fruit, cheese and baguette and a glass of Banyuls, (an affordable French dessert wine). During the week, we’d stop at some of my favorite wine stores, (like Wine Shoe), and have dinner at Buena Vida Tapas, and one day we would take a quick trip up to North Georgia and we’d visit a couple of my favorite wineries, (Frogtown, Wolf Mountain, Yonah Mountain), have lunch and then head home to do a taste and compare of Georgia wine with their California counterparts. We’d def go to the Battery for Mexican and margaritas at Superica one night, head to Buckhead another afternoon for Thai at Chai Yo, cruise through the Shops of Buckhead and pick up Indian for a take out dinner from Mint Leaf Indian on Spring Road. Every morning we’d  have awesome coffee from my Jura Coffeemaker (Cooks Warehouse), fresh fruit, and yummy baguettes,, (Cafe Vendome and W hole Foods) and jam from my friend the Passionate Preserver. Whoops – she’d have to stay 2 weeks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my latest cookbook, I have 6 pages of shoutouts, to awesome people in my life – I am so lucky to have met, worked with and shared life with so many. If I only had one person to thank I would offer my deepest gratitude to my husband, Mike. Mike is my biggest fan and is the reason I can do what I do each day!
