We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Cramer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nancy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Life Labs offers “Do-It-Together” workshops for date nights, ladies’ nights out, parties, showers, and team building.  Workshops like flower arranging, chunky blanket knitting, wine tastings, cookie and cake decorating, candle and jewelry making and so much more! We provide experiences that allow for authentic connection and creativity. Even before COVID, I realized that many people feel isolated or stagnate in their daily lives. They haven’t been able to find friends outside of work. They go to work, come home, rinse, and repeat. It’s friendships, family, and connections that make life fulfilling. I’ve been to other craft workshops, like BYOB painting or clay workshops. I left there not learning anything and honestly, the project I created looked horrible. I enjoyed my time, though, because I got to spend it with my friends, and sometimes even make new ones. I simply wanted to combine that feeling of connection with learning a new skill through a project I was proud of. Those realizations sparked my inspiration for Life Labs | Curated Workshops for Your Life & Style.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve actually spent the majority of my career as a Recruiter for the Advertising and Marketing space in Atlanta. I’ve always loved connecting people. One of my life goals is to introduce someone to their future spouse! That desire to connect people was the initial spark around Life Labs! I’ve gotten incredibly positive feedback on the concept.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to see and do in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. I’m a huge foodie, so the first thing I’d do is recommend the best places to eat by location. I live in the Alpharetta/Roswell area. You simply can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants in the downtown Roswell area. Walking near The Mill is beautiful, particularly in the Fall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a great network of girlfriends who all encouraged me to start Life Labs. They listened, brainstormed, read copy, and gave me feedback on my ideas. Their input is something I could never have put a price on.

I have huge respect for Dr. Tonya Shearer, who started Discover Science Center.  She has built a very successful business and has been able to pivot to accommodate her customers during COVID.
