Meet Nakosha Briggs | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakosha Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nakosha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Choosing an artistic route as a career was initially the furthest thing from my mind. Growing up, I wanted to be a an attorney. I’d even chosen my major for college based on that plan, all the while keeping the arts as part of my life. I was always in theatre, dance, poetry, and had trained vocally since the age of 11. Artistic expression was how I stayed centered, and it brought me so much joy. Making the choice to begin pursuing it as a career is one of the bravest things I think I’ve ever done. When I was able to be honest with myself about how I truly wanted to make an impact on the world, that’s when I knew my route was clear.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As an actress with a love for so many other art forms , I find myself needing to express in more ways than just one. I believe that everyone has a vision that sets them apart from the rest of the world, and I am no exception to the rule. My vision (like many others) will always make me different , it’ll always be the thing that makes me unique. No matter how similar some people are, no one can dream your dream like you do. I’d like to think that’s where my love for this comes from. The biggest lesson I’ve learned in pushing to make my visions a reality always centered around staying true to myself, and that’s not always easy. If I wanted to leave anything for the world to remember about me? It’d be to never sacrifice honesty with yourself, stay honest and do the reflecting it takes to get to know yourself better. I think that principle has saved me in more ways than one.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh man! I’ve created so many memories all over, it’d be impossible to pick a favorite place! One thing about this city is that it’s food selection is always fun and diverse, you’ll never get bored! For my intellects, there is a wide selection of museums to check out. I also love many of the local art galleries, though my favorite artistic experience will always be at the fox theatre for more sentimental reasons. The aquarium and the world of Coca-Cola has never failed to light some eyes up either!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends play a huge role in my becoming, I couldn’t fathom what or who I’d be without the many experiences that have led me where I am. I’d also send appreciation to my first dance teacher who opened my eyes to the love of dance, also a family friend by the name of Ms. Fulton who kept me in the theatre, and my teacher Ms. Lilly who taught me to train vocally. I feel like our teachers and mentors along the way groom us to not just in their field of study, but as people.
