We had the good fortune of connecting with Naima Muvamelt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Naima, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
You have to do some deep soul searching to truly know your place. I believe we all get discouraged from time to time but to give up means giving up on yourself and those who believe in you.
So giving up should never be an option and always remember to keep pushing because the hard work will eventually always play off in the end.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from many other artists is Atlanta has a low roster of experienced vogue teachers who truly know ballroom and the art of vogue. I believe vogue now is sooo global worldwide and needs the right people to give back to teach the true elements of vogueing. Was it easy NO but did I take risk? YES! The lessons I learned truly was you have to want it for you and nobody else. When you put the work in you will see a positive outcome. May not be then, today or tomorrow but there’s always a light of each tunnel.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’ll see I’m kinda a home body but let’s say I did do like a week getaway it would have to be in a place with clear blue water. Lit restaurants and clubs.
Drinks are no limits lol “I’ll throw it up later” lol
I really would love to visit Jamaica.
Exciting people I would love to meet would be Beyoncé and any other celebrity virgos lol
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people who deserve credit towards my success and drive would have to be my gay father Kamaro and my mother Arturo! Both are capricorns and both are lovable hard working people. Some of the traits that they both possess I took note to apply them to myself and everyday life so it’s clearly working out. I cherish and love them both.
