We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Rochelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadia, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be Love. I want people to encounter my essence and leave my presence knowing that they have experienced God in, through and as me. I want them to remember me as an unconditionally loving being

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am on a journey of continual evolution and self-discovery and I am having fun experiencing the steady unfoldment. At the present, I am a singer, actress, comedian, dancer, hair stylist and a new author of a self-help book titled “The Chronicles of Nadia”, available on Amazon.com. I released a new single, “555 (Change)” that can be streamed on all digital platforms. I am set to release my new all natural hair product line in the next few months from my hair brand, Nubian Accents. It’s a VERY exciting time for me as a creator. I often get asked “NADIA, how do you do all of these things? I’ve never seen anybody operating so well in ALL of their gifts like you do and it all tie together and make sense. How do you do it?” For starters, I have a Mama who consistently supported me in everything I endeavored to do and be. She didn’t limit me or discourage me from exploration so I always sort of creatively “roamed” and played, if you will. Anytime my brother Lance and I were in any type of service role or leadership position, she cautioned us not to put so much emphasis on “my” this and “my” that; she’d say “it’s not all about YOU…and these people don’t belong to you; these are God’s people.” She also told me to never let anyone validate me; she said it to me incessantly. So I rarely consulted with others to ask what they thought about anything new that I ever wanted to try. So early on, I understood myself as unlimited God expression; I became the vessel and the channel for The Divine to express through me however It desired…as much as It desired. And I got to where I am today professionally and otherwise because of this knowing. I understand that it’s not about me, because of me, or for me…it’s THROUGH me. And since I know that, I get to express in multifarious ways with ease and enjoyment; the ease comes from trusting God within me to guide me to every next best step on my path. The only times I experienced major challenges or difficulties is when I didn’t/don’t trust the divine process…when I’m not available and “still” enough to hear what I am to do next…when I’m distracted by uncertainty and the need to know “how” it will all happen. But when I’m trusting…it’s easy and I’m having fun! One of the greatest lessons I learned on my path of artistry and life in general is that you don’t ask other people who are limited in their view of their own greatness for permission to be great. You’ll only end up joining them in their limitations. So just go on and BE great and that will in turn give THEM “permission” (inspiration) to answer their call to their own greatness.. When you do that, That’s moment you understand your purpose to be light, that’s when you know what it is to be fearless, that’s when you come to know what self-love looks like. I also learned that even a “no” is a “yes”. The “no” gets you to the RIGHT yes. If no one ever says “no”, you wouldn’t ever keep moving, keep trying and keep uncovering what you truly desire. You would just take the first thing that comes. So I became grateful for all of the auditions and parts I didn’t get because it led me to the “yes” I truly desired that became a perpetual door once I got to it; door after door after door opened up once I got to that one RIGHT yes!! I am proud of EVERY stride I’ve taken to get to this point on my path. I’m mostly proud of me for choosing me, for loving myself better than I ever have, for showing up for myself just as greatly as I show up for others and for never giving up on myself in the face of some of life’s greatest challenges. I stayed the course. Now I see and know that it’s ALL for my good! As the world experiences me, I want them to get a sense for the truth that I Am a creator and I AM art…so everything I yield is pure creative expression. And in every way that I allow art to express itself through me, I also get to be a light that serves to illuminate the paths of others so that they continually discover and unfold as the creator that they are as well. Light… ….Love… THAT’S my brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my best friends were visiting the Atlanta area for a week and I had to show them a good time, it would be a combination of ALL of the things: superb food, culture, dancing, educational enlightenment, more food, drinking, relaxation, hookah, live music entertainment, and home cooked meals. Ok so for our “out and about” everyday food, we could venture over to Viva La Vegan, Slutty Vegan, My Potato Factory, Go Vegan,  Green Love Kitchen (which are all black owned). For a little more of a posh dinner setting, we’d give give these places a whirl: Herban Fix, 10 degrees South, and Two Urban Licks. For cute brunch and drinks, we could pull up at these spots: Milk and Honey or Virgil’s (both are also black owned). For drinks, food, hookah , “turn up” and dancing, we could vibe at these lil “jawns”: Sivas, Nouveau, and Bunnamour (all owned by POC). For a more laid back, refined cocktail experience, we could kick it at Cafe Intermezzo. For relaxation I’d schedule us some Float tank therapy at Flo2s and then massages a little later with the infamous “PooPooLaLa”. We could get a little shopping on in Little Five Points at Junkman’s daughter, Crystal Blue and the like. Go to Piedmont Park and ride the scooters and listen to live jazz. We could go ride the Ferris wheel near Olympic Centennial Park to see the city from the highest point. We could take a night stroll along The Beltline for artistic, creative sites like skateboarders, graffiti art, beautiful highrises and swanky restaurants. We could take a day stroll through Ponce City Market. Take a day trip to Amicalola Falls for some grounding in nature. And take in some educational things at these places: Trap Music Museum, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, High museum of art.    Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are sooo many persons who have been instrumental on my path in assisting me with awakening to and operating in my own greatness, helped usher me to my many successes and helped to guide me to where I am today. And two people in particular come to mind in this moment. I want to dedicate this “shoutout” to my spiritual leaders, mentors, coaches, and pastors of Celebration Spiritual Center, Pastors Greg Stamper and Yolanda Batts
