We had the good fortune of connecting with Mz. Leebra Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mz. Leebra, why did you pursue a creative career?
To be honest, I don’t think I necessarily chose a creative career. I feel as though being a creative person and with how my mind works, I naturally gravitated towards having a creative career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia (Summerhill, Zone 3). My novels are all set in the city that I am from and love. I am most proud of all of my novels. Sitting down and actually writing quality work isn’t easy and takes a lot of time, especially when you’re self-published.

I have to wear the hat of not only the author, but the editor, the cover artist, and I am 100% responsible for the work that I present to my readers.

Being an author is not easy, especially because I am not at that stage of my career where I can live solely off of my passion, so I still have to work a 9 to 5. This is where time management skills come into play and balancing my corporate life with my creative career can sometimes be very overwhelming.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hands down I’m taking them to the Interlock in Midtown. First of all there is a hotel that they can stay at for this trip.

Right down stairs there are plenty of things to do such as…Puttshack, The Escape Game, Sandbox VR.

There are also plenty of places to eat and drink such as…Velvet Taco, Pour Taproom, Humble Pie, Barcelona, Guac Y Margy’s, the Holiday Bar, just to name a few.

There are also other things to do and places to eat and drink not even 10 minutes away from the Interlock, so that is definitely my favorite go to starting spot.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up, I’ve always been surrounded around books and reading. Since I can remember, all my mother did in her spare time was read her romance novels. She would get lost in them. I remember thinking as I child, I wonder if if I can write a book as good as the ones my mother reads and would she get lost in the pages of my book like she does her romance novels? She is definitely the biggest and first person that inspired me to even want to write.
