Meet Mycah Whiting | Licensed Professional Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mycah Whiting and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mycah, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business, Remedy Counseling and Consulting, is a therapy practice that provides services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. As a therapist for over 12 years, I have witnessed the powerful impact of the work that we do as therapists, and how vital it is to the healthcare of all people. Our work promotes mental health, which in turn promotes a healthier community and society for us all to live in.
Our minds are a part of our bodies, so to only take care of the body and neglect our mental health creates an imbalance in one’s life. How we feel and think directly affects our physical selves and vice versa. Which is why we feel better, when we take better care of ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. It all works together. Remedy Counseling’s goal is to empower clients’ mental and emotional well-being, by providing a safe and confidential space where they can share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns for anything in their life past, present, or future.
In a world where people need empathy, support, and trained professional care now more than ever, Remedy was started as a vehicle/ conduit to help people gain what I call “the remedies for their life”. In other words, to identify individual solutions that can help them achieve their goals, become their better selves, and receive healing for the Soul (one’s mind, will, and emotions).

What should our readers know about your business?
In 2020, Remedy Counseling was formed from a lifelong purpose and passion to help others find healing and growth in their lives. What I think sets my work or what I do apart from my peers in the field is my genuineness. Everything I offer as a Therapist is true to who I am as a person. I love people. Always have! And I’ve always been one who’s encouraged others to be comfortable with themselves by embracing who they are. I believe my personable approach is what has been most effective in connecting with people. It helps my client’s feel safe, seen, and validated, and creates the space for honesty and truth to be shared in a supportive environment.
As an entrepreneur, it’s never an easy road. For me, growing a thriving business has come with ongoing requirements of learning, balance, sacrifice, self-discipline, being open to feedback and change, and making use of the variety of resources available to help my business run efficiently. I have overcome any challenges that I’ve faced thus far with the mindset that there’s always room to learn more and have had to work on not being afraid to ask for help when needed. This entrepreneurial life has also taught me alot about myself, my strengths, and the areas I could use more growth in. Every lesson learned has helped to make me a stronger business owner and a stronger Therapist. I am thankful for this journey God has equipped me to take.
I believe in the adage “life’s too short not to laugh, and find something to smile about”. I know that laughter is good for the soul and the world is hard enough as it is. Laughter helps to crumble down those hardened walls that tend to grow as we navigate the hardships of life, and makes room for connection, growth, and understanding. My goal is to continue to spread joy, healing, and transformation, through the services that Remedy Counseling provides.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things to do in the city is hitting the Beltline, due to the variety it offers. You can go for a walk or run, go biking, enjoy the parks, and while there stop for some tasty food and drinks, see diverse vendors and artists, enjoy people watching, and the high chance of running into someone you know, because the beltline is a welcoming place for all. My best friend and I love the outdoors so we’d also venture a little further outside the city to take a hike up Stone Mountain, hit the trails at Sweetwater Creek State Park, or enjoy a day at Lake Alatoona.
We also have a robust variety of restaurant & dining options, which makes it hard for me to narrow down an absolute favorite, but a few of my favorites are Nuevo Laredo Cantina, Swapna Indian Cuisine, Slim & Husky’s, and Tassilli’s Raw Reality Cafe. I’d also take her to at least one of my favorite food halls, which I think provides a good variety and taste of what Atlanta has to offer. My particular favorites are Chattahoochee Food Works, Politan Row at Colony Square, and Krog Street Market. And for dessert, my best friend and I love a good ice cream, so we’d definitely hit up one of my favorites: Jeni’s or Morelli’s!
And for a fun night out! I’d have include taking her to the best party in town, that only happens on the first Friday of the month- Deeper ATL! If you know you know! And I’d also include Rock Steady for another night to enjoy the delicious afro-caribbean food and drinks, and the parties they have with great DJ’s throughout the week and on the weekends. A great time is definitely to be had!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing Parents! They are my backbone, my life coaches, and they’ve exemplified the values of faith, family, perseverance, and resilience for me. They have always believed in me and encouraged my gifts and purpose in this world. They have challenged me when growth and perspective was needed, and have continued to be a great source of my strength. When I informed them that I was leaving my full time job in the midst of a world-wide pandemic, to fully pursue my entrepreneurial endeavors, their unwavering support and confidence in me is what empowered me to take that risk, and turn a dream into a successful reality. I am so thankful for everything they’ve imparted in me and all the sacrifices that they’ve made so I could succeed. I know that I would not be who I am today without God and their love for me.
