Meet Muhammad Azhar | CEO and Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Muhammad Azhar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Muhammad, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There are several reasons behind starting my own business. First of all I’ll introduce myself. My name is Muhammad Azhar Founder of Volant Garments Pakistan.
Volant Garments is a custom clothing manufacturing firm. I have been in job since 2013. And the main reason behind starting a new business is that Everyone wants a better income in today’s world so that he/she can provide a better living standards to his/her family. That was the main reason behind my brain storming. I completed my Masters during my job and one of my Professors Sir Faisal who was teaching our class “Finance”. He keeps on motivating all of us to do your own business rather than to pursue your job. As you all of know in Pakistan wage rate is quite low as compared to other world. I was earning just $150 USD per month and $1800 USD per anum despite of such low income I couldn’t make up my mind to start a business. Then covid 19 wave came in all of our lives. That wave has not only taken our loved ones but also it disturbed our financial situations. My employer stopped all of his staff salaries including me during covid. I was very upset during covid. But I decided to do business in those days and quit my job.
I started my clothing export business and start searching potential clothing owners from USA market. And by the grace of Almighty Allah now I earn alot more than my salary which was just $1800 USD yearly. I’m thankful to my Almighty Allah to make my decision successful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As I have told you in the very start I’m the Founder of Volant Garments Pakistan. Volant Garments is a custom clothing manufacturing firm. The only things which makes me proud is that many people are exporting from Sialkot, Pakistan to USA. But very few are literate. So I’m in the one who not only skilful but knows the English very well which is I would say a commendable skill in today’s world if you want to excel in international market and specially for USA. Every one is talking English explaining in English his business tech packs are in English so you need to be very skilful not only in your work but also you should have a strong grip on English language.
So I’m proud of it my clients specially my brothers from black community I don’t call them clients. They have such complex designs and some don’t have tech packs. They explain me by writing on a paper during video call. I read their facial expressions and hand movements to make a mockups right. And when we come with result. They just love the work they are happy to see it. They amazed by just explaining with paper pencil or hand movements I come up the exact thing that was in their mind. That’s thing make me proud when I see happiness on their face. They have become word of mouth for us in USA.
Where I stand in my business today. It was never easy I faced failures I was near to quit but due to Imran khan my country leader my leader it became very easy. I often listen his speeches and I would say he’s one of the best motivational living examples now a days. I memorized one of Imran Khan quote and applied in my life.
Imran khan says,”You lose when you give up”. So when I feel it is the time to stop time to give up then the only face came in my mind and that face is of “Imran khan ” and he says to me, “You lose only when you give up”. So this imagination fils my heart with full of excitement. If I succeeded today is the only reason I didn’t give up.
That’s the lesson to the world if you don’t want to lose then don’t give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would like to say differently it is not the place it is the people you enjoy with. When I’m with my friend. And we’re sitting in my rooms we’re enjoying. We have lot more to talks we have our secrets to discuss. We have incidents from our past life to laugh. So it’s the people. But yes particularly for one place 7 days. I love mountains in my country the most. I would love to visit Gilgit Baltistan with all my friends for 7 days. Even by just imagining this trip with my friends I have excitement in my heart.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes definitely I would love to give credit one of my best friend Asad Ur Rehman who’s a software engineer and running his software house successfully. Asad ur Rehman and me are friends since 2007. We are school friends and still together after so many year.
Asad ur Rehman keeps on motivating to do export since 2015 . But I never thought to quit my job but in covid when I decided to quit job and made my mind to start the business the first business came into my mind was clothing export which has been guided by Asad ur Rehman. I could go anywhere if I don’t have this option and probably fail but I’m having a successful decision. And I choose this idea due to Asad ur Rehman.
I’m thankful to Asad ur Rehman and he deserves it.
