We had the good fortune of connecting with Monisha Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monisha Michelle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue an artistic (and) creative career because there is nothing that compares to expression. Expression comes in many forms for me–whether that’s modeling, writing, acting, styling, designing, allowing concepts that flow through my mind and heart to come to life, ect. My path/career allows me to ‘become’ everything I am, out loud.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a model, blogger, and content creator. This allows me to see life from a different perspective, creatively. You’d be able to get a glimpse into my brain when you view my visuals, my writing, my styling, my content–ultimately, my brand, which excites me most. I can be simple one day, chic the next day, beauty another day, editorial one day, avant-garde the next, and create a painting with words tomorrow. I’ve been able to get to where I am by believing in myself, getting back up when I fall, starting over and rebranding, practicing my craft, networking, staying true to myself, and working hard. Was this or is this easy? No. It’s never easy to toss everything and start from scratch again. But, the reward of not giving up on yourself is worth every hardship. That is what I call true success. The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way that I’d like to share is–do not allow others to control your destiny. If you want something, go for it. Create your own opportunities, put your dreams into action, and know that you are enough.

When it comes to my brand, I want the world to know that you can be a model (petite, modest, fashion, beauty, editorial, commercial, etc.) and still stick to your morals and standards. You can start over and rebrand. You can be a model with locs and tattoo’s and still be diverse (which you’ll see represented in my visuals). You can have your own style (simple, chic, casual, street, etc.) that you want to bring to life in your content which helps others to do the same. You can also be vulnerable and bold in your writing/blog(s) and still inspire, motivate, and bring revelation to your readers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun question! I enjoy the outdoors, so we’d go hiking at Stone Mountain or Chattahoochee Bamboo Forest. For crablegs and karaoke, we’d go to Suite Food Lounge. For drinks, we’d go to Politan Row at Colony Square (always a nice vibe there). The beltline would be nice for walking, riding motor scooters, and having a picnic. For more recreational fun, we’d go to Puttshack, Top Golf, or Nitrozone. We’d go to The Roof at Ponce City Market, and end the trip with brunch and botomless mimosas at Nouvea.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, I’d definitely like to start by thanking God; I know that He has wired me in specific ways and has given me specific gifts for specific purposes. Next, I’d like to give recognition to my mother and grandmother–your support and encouragement throughout my journey will never go unnoticed. Bilal, my dear friend, thank you for always being a listening ear when I need another creative to talk to (this journey can be lonely). And Bryan, my best friend and partner (you see all of the behind the scenes moments), thank you for always being by my side, making yourself available, and being the greatest support I could’ve ever asked for.
