Meet Monique Farrow | Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Farrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I began my photography career as a Sophomore in high school. It was a project titled “personal project” for the International baccalaureate program where we had the task of learning a new skill. I have always been indecisive so first I went with learning to knit. Then I went with photography, not knowing that this would eventually be my career. At that moment, I never imagined that I would be an entrepreneur but something instantly sparked in me to make my passion a business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I take pride in the ability to connect with my clients interpersonally. I too have been the person on the other side of the camera full of anxiety because I fear looking crazy. But one thing I can assure all of my clients is that, I will pose and direct them and I will never have them in front of my lens looking crazy. I look at every session with me as an unforgettable experience as photoshoots are luxury services. It is a guarantee that you will leave feeling more confident and beautiful than you already are.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anytime my family or friends come to visit me, the first place that I take them is to my church, Spirit and Truth Church pastored by Mark Moore Jr. It is not just church but it is the best church in Atlanta if you ask me. For brunch, my to go spots are Toast on Lenox and The Real Milk and Honey. To hang out, Therapy Lounge and Rock Steady is the perfect balance of a night out but chill. However, most of the time I am just as interested to try new things being that I am also new to Atlanta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first give all glory and honor to God. Without him, I would be nothing. Second, I would recognize my family and parents. Even in the moments where it may have seemed like my business would fail, they still stood beside me and encouraged me. It was never a moment where I could say “my family didn’t believe in me.”
