We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I am a wife, mother, and work full-time. Work-life balance is necessary. As a business owner, it is easy to get burnt out. When I first started my business, I did not have a work-life balance. I would work the business after-hours when my family was asleep. I had to rebalance my life as our brand focuses on peace, love, and joy. I found tools to help me stay present on social media. Automation has helped tremendously. I also designate certain days and times for content creation, engagement, and the administrative portion of the business. I love what I do. I love the lives I am touching through our social media platform and the messaging on our apparel.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have an MBA with a concentration in Project Management. My full-time job is also in Project Management. It was not easy obtaining my degrees as a full-time working mother. My support system was instrumental in assisting with my achievements. I learned there is nothing you cannot do if God is first and foremost in your life. You also have to remain dedicated. My skills as a business professional have most definitely been a plus in creating and launching Peace Fournine Apparel LLC.
It is also important to move forward in silence, ignore negative energy, and put God in everything you do. I am my brand. I have faced trauma in my life, struggles as a single parent, and anxiety. I am still working daily to have peace in my life. I am a living testimony. I hope my story is an encouragement to others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have fallen in love with nature. Nature is a reminder of how awesome God is. I would most definitely take a nature walk, we would eat some good local food and just enjoy some peace and quiet. I know it may sound boring to some, but my turn-up days are long gone. I am at a point in my life where the little things mean the most.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our brand was created in January 2020 as I was dealing with a lot of anxiety due to COVID-019 and an increase in visible racial injustices. Our church was going through a series Anxious for Nothing which focused on scriptures in Philippians 4. This series resonated with me and Peace Fournine Apparel LLC. was birthed. Of course, without God, none of this would be possible. I would like to shoutout my husband and daughters. They have been incredibly supportive of the business venture. I appreciate the shout-outs on social media from our brand ambassadors, models, and customers. I also would like to thank everyone that has engaged on social media, purchases, and word of mouth. We are a new brand. Without the support, we would not be able to spread our message of peace, love, and joy.
