We had the good fortune of connecting with Mona Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mona, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and brand is my consistency. One thing I can attest to in my seven years as an entrepreneur is that I have never stopped showing up for my community, whether it be through daily encouragement, book vending events, workshops, and conferences. I’m always putting myself out there in some tangible way to support not only myself, but others who follow and support me and the vision.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am The Journal Book Coach.

I help women of faith who are aspiring authors become self published by creating customized journals, planners, workbooks, and more to add additional streams of income.

My book coaching journey began in 2014 with a God idea to create my first published work, which was a simple purpose journal titled, Journal To My Destiny. From creating my own journal and mastering that process through trial and error I begin to help other women create their first published journals as well. It has been a joy for the past 7 years, helping others create their vision and accomplish something they never thought would become reality.

A main lesson I’ve learned is to set up proper systems to assist in booking the right clients so I don’t waste time with persons who are not ready to invest in what I offer. This has been a game changer and has helped me from being burned out and wasting precious time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them downtown to visit Navy Pier (boat ride), walk the Magnificient Mile, dine at The Signature Room and depending on their preference of food I would decide from there. We would do a tour ride of the city, visit our local zoos, and definitely do a Karaoke night. My top choice for a good steak would be Ruth Chris, Thai (Bohdi’s), and chinese (PF Chang’s) to name a few spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out all the Coaches and Mentors who have contributed to my success as a person, coach, and business woman. They have been a big part of my development and success over the years. Without investing and gleaning from them I would not be where I am today. Execution also plays a big part as well. I not only took in the information, but I executed what was taught and continue to do so. To name a few instrumental people: Makeda Smith, N’yoki Hunt, Dr. Angela Thibeaux, Dr. Aikyna Finch, Apryl Beverly, Brittany Garth, Kristi Jackson, King Ashley Ann and the late Cici (thesixfigurechick).
