Meet Mona Madl | Fine Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mona Madl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mona, how do you think about risk?
I feel like as an artist you should always feel a little uncomfortable. Taking risks is a chance to grow and learn more about ourselfs. There is no growth in comfort and you will never discover the true YOU if you never try to grow your personality. All the risks I have taken in my life define the person I am today. I would have done it all again. It is part of my jourey through art and discovering what is within me and how God created me as a person. Take risks!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I paint my mind goes to different places on earth. Its almost seems like a little time travel in my head. In there, I mostly go back to my home country Salzburg. To the mountains I used to hike and the peace I felt. It is a peace that never left me and facinated me. Nature to me is the best kind of art, just wonderful all of God’s creation and it doesn’t fade – It doesn’t get boring. It is just simply perfect and that inspires me (I think) the most. All of creation and how wonderful it is made. There is nothing more perfect. I worked hard to improve my skills for years and I am not done yet. There are so many projects which I want to start and manz things I want to try out. I think our biggest talent could be the desire/curosity to create. If we don”t have that, what will push us to make something? I think as an artist you need to have that urge to create. Of course we all face failures and hard challenges, but these are the chances where we get better and create something unique – our own style. What is better than that?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in between New York and Philadelphia. A perfect place to visit art museums and experience a lot of good places for food. As for food I would recommend the “Hells Kitchen” or “Little Italy” in New York combined with the natural history musem and the MoMa. ( a MUST) For Philadelphia I would visit the “Reading Terminal Market” and the “Musem of Art” to discover outstanding artworks as of Renoir, Monet and Van Gogh. There are many places to discover so the list would go on and on…
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All my inspiration, all my joy and the start of my journey of art is because I found hope in God. It is truly something I discovered and made so much peace with. I grew up in the heart of the alps in Austria – waking up sourrounded by mountains and nature, which led me to something that was extremly peaceful and fullfilling. I have climbed mountains and felt nothing but inspiration. This is where I started to believe that there is a God and how he created us all. It inspires me how unique and beautiful we all are. I couldn”t help myself but start drawing and painting. I had to capture all that beauty I saw and the inspiration I felt.
