We had the good fortune of connecting with Molaine Cajuste and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molaine, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
A book I recommend reading, especially for those who are in a season of uncertainty, trusting God to bring them through and in their process of trying to accomplish a certain goal in life, is a book called “Bamboozled By Jesus” by Yvonne Orjie. Her book is such a page-turner on how God tricked her to live the life of her dreams. In the book, she describes the many trials and moments of doubt, fear, and frustration she experienced while on her journey to becoming an amazing actress, writer, producer, and comedian. Her faith and trust in God played a big role in how she handled disappointments, and no matter what it looked like, or how long it took for things to come full circle, everything worked out eventually, hence the title Bamboozled by Jesus.

There are several excerpts from the book that I love; the two that come to mind are, “All you gotta do is outlast your darkest night by one day, and you win.” and the second, “anything we can think, dream, ask for, or imagine, God is God enough to do exceedingly, abundantly above that.” Having experienced my own trials, tribulations, and victories, I’ve learned that the power of prayer, the boldness to believe in your dreams, and trusting the process even if you don’t have all the pieces lined up, will help you on your journey to success. No one’s exempt from experiencing challenges, but how we respond to them is the key to overcoming them. Perseverance will take you places you never imagined. We shouldn’t rush our process, and it’s important we check our perception when faced with an uncomfortable situation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a certified mindfulness coach who’s also pursuing a degree to become a licensed marriage and family therapist. I’m passionate about my purpose of becoming a mental health representative, especially for the Haitian community, while utilizing my personal healing journey to help others, in addition to generating generational wealth.

I’ve faced many challenges as a single mother, an entrepreneur, and a student. I wish I would have pushed through some of the pain and never allowed my circumstances to be more important than the goal! I learned that being embedded in fear and holding onto resentment produces nothing. Nothing means I’ll never grow or experience the good things in life. Nothing means I’ve chosen to quit before I even started. That’s a risk I wasn’t willing to take. I went to therapy, focused on my education, and changed my mindset to be in alignment with my purpose.

I’ve also learned that sometimes the risk of things falling apart is so that you see the beauty in your broken pieces. Whatever you want to achieve in life will not always come easily. Taking risks will give you insight and the opportunity to use your broken pieces to strengthen your chances of getting it right the next time around. Having this risk-taking mindset has me seeing life as full of possibilities. I will continue to take risks, keep believing it’s possible, use my testimony to help others, and never ever again settle for nothing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Northern Virginia. If my friends were visiting the DMV, prior to their arrival, I’d be sure to check for any shows or events happening that week. We would most likely first visit our favorite Haitian restaurant, Giselle’s, or the African restaurant, Hakuna Matata Grill, both located in Silver Springs, Maryland. The next few days, we’d planned some fun activities, such as zip lining at Go Ape, booking an appointment at Deluca Massage in DC, or a paint and sip event at Muse Bar. Another day we’d take a nice boat ride over to the national harbor to spend some time dining on the waterfront. The next couple of days, we’d plan to do a little shopping at Tyson’s Mall and later have dinner, enjoying some delicious seafood at Eddie V’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank God, my family and my close circle of friends for their love, prayers, support and encouragement throughout my journey in life professionally and personally. Their support is unmatched, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to stand next to.
