Hi Modupe, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without risk there’s no real reward. Risk is necessary when your on the road to success. I took a risk with my savings and put it into starting my business. I believed in what I was doing. For me, even if things didn’t go as plan and I had to start over it would be from experience which is a gain. I’m constantly taking risk so that I can grow my brand. You never know which risk you take will be the one that will make your brand.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lofinda Luxury LC is a fusion of my Nigerian-American culture. Its a luxury fragrance house that triggers feel good emotions. I am a product of Nigerians who migrated to America in search for a better life. My mother whom my love of fragrance stemmed from never left the house without spraying every article of clothing with perfume. Despite whatever she was going through she never looked like her problems. I believe when you smell good, you look good and you ultimately feel good. That’s what separates my candles from others. Its not about just filling the room with scents. Its the unique mixture of oils that put you in a place of ease in any environment. Lofinda Luxury vessels are not just jars that hold scented wax but a unique home décor piece. My candles are multipurpose luxury pieces that are designed for people who enjoy the quality of life.

I’ve been in business for less than a year and it has been so insightful. I’m in love with it ! I’m currently in a partnership with West -Elm artist pop-ups. I am so grateful for the opportunity to show case my products to such a large audience . When you have a vision you literally execute every idea that comes to mind until something works. I take pride when I’m interacting with my amazing customers. The smiles on their faces as they smell one of my candles and them telling me a story of what my scents remind them of is pure bliss. This is why I do this. It’s human nature to connect with one another and my fragrances is my way of creating that connection.

Consistency is key ! Even when you don’t feel like it do it ! Do something no matter how big or small but stay consistent. The effort , time and energy will show and pay off. Stay hungry and always be ready to learn; not just for your brand but for yourself. What you practice is what you become. I’m constantly learning , whether its the business side or the creative. I keep my mind stimulated so I can produce quality. Something that my customer feel good receiving .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie so me and my bestfriend would probably spend most of our time eating. I love Thai food ! We would have lunch at Osha Thai Sushi in Buckhead. Their fried calamari is amazing. Then take a trip to the High Museum of art where they have over 15,000 works of art. On Fridays its a vibe kind of like a party in a museum.

Dorav Parlor Bistro is a cute speakeasy un Doraville whose lychee martinis is the best I had thus far ! The interior design of the bistro is so chic. I feel like I’m on a movie set anytime I’m there.

For a nice competitive game we would head over to Bowlero at Atlantic station. Its an all in one good time at this bowling alley complete with food, drinks and arcade games.

There’s actually the cutest restaurant right across the street from bowlero called Rose Bistro and champagne bar. They have an actually champagne vending machine in the restaurant. They have a dj that plays all the right tunes as you enjoy your meal . Suck for décor there is literally florals decorated all over the place.

To switch it up and head out of the city we’ll go Chateau Elan. When we would go wine tasting and take in the beautiful scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am blessed and grateful to say that the support of my family and friends contributed to the start of Lofinda Luxury LC. Its far too many people to name , but literally every single person in my life has helped me in one way or the other to start this brand. I Had financial help from friends, family who gave me there time and encouragement and they all supported, promoted and played whatever part they could. I Honestly wouldn’t have made it this far without them. I Understand how rare it is for you to have a vision and people to also see it from the very beginning. I hear so many stories about people doing it all on there own with so much discouragement and I commend them. Even with support this journey is lonely .
