We had the good fortune of connecting with mo.et and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi mo.et, what’s your definition for success?
I personally define success as obtaining the resources to build my life the way I want to live it. Everybody has their own definition of what they believe success is and sometimes once they obtain it, it doesn’t result in happiness. This is usually when chasing things solely for a financial or attention gain is the focal point. If I am able to be financially free through creating music, that is one major step of success because I would still do it everyday for free. Success to me is also the impact I have on others and building something bigger than myself to leave behind. My final branch of success would be my spiritual, mental, and physical health being the best that it can be.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets me apart off rip is I’m being me, authentically. The brand, mo.et, is nothing less than me just channeling my life into my art. I don’t go into creating thinking about what I think will be a hit rather than what feels good to me. I consider myself to be a chameleon because I don’t stick to one style in particular and I can be a bit unpredictable. The journey through self expression and challenging myself keeps me on my toes. I look back and see how far I’ve come through faith after dealing with untimely deaths of close friends, balancing school and work while trying to master the craft, and dealing with having to move around a lot while figuring things out. A lot happens behind the scenes that people don’t know about from a self doubt, financial, and timing standpoint. But if I could share anything to help someone in life, it would be to keep the people close to you that have proven themselves. Also, that it is not always about having more but learning to master your domain as you go. I plan to keep pushing the boundary further and to keep creating for as long as I can!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m not from Atlanta but I’m pretty familiar with the area. Outside of COVID, I would probably schedule the trip around an event like AfroPunk since I’m a music person. During the week, we’d go to areas like little 5 points and various thrift stores because I enjoy finding unique clothes and items. I definitely would take them to the High Art Museum and Bontanical Gardens as well. As far as nightlife, I’m not too much of a bar hopper but if they wanted to go out, I’d take them to the Edgewood. Finally, I’d take them out to Roswell Mill to enjoy some nature and mix up the experience from the city life. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
For starters, I have to recognize my collective Phade because they have been with me before I ever even thought about doing music. This is really my family and I wouldn’t be doing things in the way that I am without them or without meeting Vahnii a few years back. Second, I have to shoutout BlackSun which is my band consisting of Vahnii and SunRhe. This happened pretty naturally after beginning to create music together and we’re still growing with time. Third I want to shoutout all the SC artists/producers who believe enough in me to aid in the creation process. Lastly, everyone who has supported my art financially, recommended me to people, streamed my music, would have me listing names all day but you know who you are and know that you are deeply appreciated! I love you all!
