Meet MJ Toling | Producer, Director, Writer, Actor, Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with MJ Toling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MJ, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Well let’s just say that this isn’t an easy industry to get into and that you must have a sense of obsession. Even just getting started it takes a lot. From what I’ve learned and experienced so far on this journey, it’s an industry that is very competitive and it takes the right mindset, skillset and dedication to be able to progress. That being said, it’s not impossible. If you’re a dreamer like me and you know you can do it, the sky’s the limit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a producer, director, writer, actor, and model. I think what sets me apart from others is how I like to tell my stories. You might think well that’s what everyone says but we are all different from one another so I feel when we each tell our own story it’s very unique. When it comes to working on films, I try to find ways that are unique, entertaining, meaningful and special that help create a cinematic story tell.

What I am and have been most excited about is honestly my journey and journey to come in terms of my career. There was a lot of challenges to overcome and I’m sure more challenges to encounter because this industry is full of ups and downs, worries, overthinking, and honestly the list goes on. To me it feels like a dream that is very far away but something that I hope to eventually reach. Hopefully people will know how obsessive I am over this, because this is the lifestyle that I want to create for myself, my friends and my family.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is a lot of things to do in Atlanta. From parks, restaurants, bars, shows, nature, attractions, museums, and clubs, there are so many places to check out and visit that will always be a good time. I will say, two places that I have visited the most since living here in Atlanta is The Battery and Ponce City Market because they both have a beautiful scenery with lots of activities to do and it’s an overall good vibe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Each and everyone who I have met in my life has made an impact in my story. If I was to shout anyone out, I would want to shoutout everyone because the life experiences I’ve shared with one another, big, small, good and bad is what allowed me to be where I am today.

Taking what I’ve experienced in my life so far helps inspire me with ideas when either working behind the camera or in front of the camera, therefore, I am very grateful to be able live and share all types of experiences with everyone that I meet.

I create for people to watch as I enjoy being able to work on films that people will either hate or enjoy.
