We had the good fortune of connecting with Miss Monét and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miss, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my journey has taught me is that there’s never going to be a “perfect” time to start your career or your business. I used to let perfectionism hinder me from taking chances or taking that leap of faith. I always thought that it had to be the right time, the right content, etc., when really – you just have to do it. And you have to do it with passion. I wasted so much time waiting for the “right” moment when the right moment is now.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a podcast that embodies the different layers of myself and my personality, I talk about topics that related to holistic health, love, relationships, and life challenges. Miss Monet Topic of the Day is not like any other podcast because it creates a therapeutic space for me to connect with my guests and partake in soul-stirring reflections. It creates a space for people, and myself, to have these self-healing reflections. I most proud of how I was able to capitalize off of spending so much time alone during the pandemic. Quarantine forced me to be still and take time to really make my vision come to life. It definitely wasn’t easy but I knew that having these conversations would help so many people. I learned that people heal is various ways. Therapy can show up in many different forms and for me my podcast is just a small part of my healing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting the area I would definitely start by taking them out to brunch at BQE or perhaps Breakfast at Barneys. After that I would take them to Atlanta Botanical Gardens to walk off all of the calories but to also enjoy that exhibits. Atlanta Botanical Gardens is such a beautiful outdoor experience. We would go to Loca Luna for some of the best tapas and margaritas and end the night going bowling or enjoying the Atlanta nightlife.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I want to attribute my success to God. Who I am as a person, my talents, my purpose, and my passion was all premeditated with divine design. I also need to shoutout to my family, especially my siblings, and my linesisters for supporting me and my vision. I can’t forget my mentor, best friend, and the best host in Atlanta – ET Cali. Ever since I met ET he has been an open book and has groomed me as an upcoming radio personality. He has always pushed me to be myself and has never let me miss an opportunity to be better. I also need to give a shoutout to myself! It has not been easy, yet and still I’ve persevered. I had to let God use me and align me with my purpose. As spiritually uplifting as it sounds, aligning with your purpose is extremely difficult. It can be disappointing, taxing, and lonely. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned to also check in with myself, take those mental health days, and keep pushing.
