Meet Mind Splitter | Music Producer and 3D/Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mind Splitter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mind Splitter, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
To me, creating is one of the most important and valuable things a person can do. When you make something, whether it’s a piece of art, a song, a story, or even a piece of furniture, you are bringing something into the universe that didn’t exist before. Whatever that thing is, it exists because of you, and it can potentially outlast you and impact others in a meaningful way. It’s a very fulfilling experience. In addition, almost every creative/artistic field involves a lifetime of learning and improving. It can keep you occupied and engaged forever, which makes it hard to get bored. And in my experience being bored leads to feeling aimless and sometimes depressed. It’s so much fun to constantly have a project I am working on and excited about. It’s one of the best feelings in the world.
Those are reasons I’ve noticed and acknowledged later on, but initially, the most important factor for me was that I love music and art so much that I almost had to pursue it. It’s all I think about.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a music producer and 3D/visual artist. It’s hard to place the music in a specific genre but I like to go with the umbrella term “bass music”. I love movies so a lot of the music and art I make has a cinematic feel to it and usually on the more experimental and trippier side. I love art that blows my mind visually, sonically, and or mentally. That’s what draws me to science fiction and psychological thrillers. I try to make stuff to elicit that reaction in others, as well as immerse them and take their minds elsewhere. It makes me really happy to see that vision become more and more realized when I get messages or comments that validate it. I think one of the things that sets me apart from others is my project being both audio and visual. I learned how to create 3D art/animations to give visual context to my music, which allows me to curate the experience in a more intentional way. I try to capture specific feelings or ideas in my music, and having the visuals to support it, helps people understand it better. I’m working towards creating larger bodies of work in the form of an EP or album that will present almost like an animated short film. I’m really excited about that because it gives me the opportunity to fully realize a story with creative freedom of every aspect. I’ve also written stories, not centered around a piece of music, that I’d love to bring to life one day. I try not to limit myself to creating a particular type of art or product. The Mind Splitter project will be ever-evolving.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d have to start the day at Bagel Boys. It’s hands down the best bagel that’s ever blessed the earth. I haven’t tried all the bagels on earth but I know that statement is still true. I’d make them get an everything bagel, toasted twice with cream cheese. It’s absurdly good. I could honestly spend the rest of the time talking about that but I’ll move on.
Not too far from that is Pontoon Brewery in Sandy Springs. It’s an unassuming brewery in an office complex, but they have the best beers/sours I’ve ever had. Really unique flavors. I take people there whenever possible, and they are always blown away.
For entertainment, I’d take them to both the Illuminarium and a 4DX movie. The illuminarium has really cool immersive exhibits where the entire room has projections that make you feel like you’re somewhere else. You can enjoy some drinks there as well. The Regal Cinema in Atlantic Station has 4DX theaters. You sit in these mechanical chairs that move around in really dynamic ways that match perfectly with the movie. On top of that the movie is in 3D and there are fans and water for extra effects. It’s the most immersive movie experience you can have. I’ve seen the latest Dr Strange, Spiderman, and Avatar in 4DX and it was incredible.
For a dinner move, the first thing that comes to mind is 9 mile station. It’s a great restaurant located on the roof of ponce city market. The food is so good and you get a nice view of the city while you eat. Apart from the food, there are bars and lots of games up there including mini golf.
I’d most likely take them to a concert too. Aisle 5 is a great small capacity venue in atlanta that always brings in some of the best artists in the underground bass scene. For a larger scale show with higher stage production, I’d take them to the Eastern, a newer venue I love.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents have always taught me that I can do whatever I want if I put my mind to it. It’s a really simple message that I’m sure a lot of people hear growing up, but it is very important for a kid to hear nonetheless. It became a core belief of mine that still encourages me. Apart from that mantra, just having a home where I felt safe and loved gave me the room to focus on things that would help me in my future. I also have to give my sister some credit for always being my biggest supporter. Some people might find this funny, but another person I have to give a little credit to is Gary Vaynerchuk. I saw one of his videos my sophomore year of college. He said something along the lines of “At the end of your life when you’re on your deathbed, do you want to be wondering ‘what if’?” and that hit me really hard and honestly became a fear of mine. After that, I decided to dedicate myself and follow my dreams.
The support of my friends has also been a huge boost in my morale and drive. In 2019 I met a group of producers under the collective “G-Wub” and it was really nice to have friends around me that were in the same pursuit as me. They’ve always been incredibly supportive and made me believe in myself in the beginning before I had even officially started this project.
